Historia
In centering Black women’s stories, two award-winning historians seek both to empower African American women and to show their allies that Black women’s unique ability to make their own communities while combatting centuries of oppression is an essential component in our continued resistance to systemic racism and sexism. Daina Ramey Berry and Kali Nicole Gross offer an examination and celebration of Black womanhood, beginning with the first African women who arrived in what became the United States to African American women of today.

What did you love best about The Storyteller?
Everything
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Storyteller?
Hearing the story from multiple view points. Feeling love and fear, anger and joy for the characters.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
All the narrators were top notch. They made the story come to life
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
there were many moments that moved me. I cried several times listening to this book.
Any additional comments?
I saw some reviews that questioned the "vampire" part of the story. I wonder if these people listened all the way through and I realize that it doesn't make sense reading reviews but just trust me, it does. This story was beautiful. There are some very painful things that happen to the characters (stories of concentration camps), but isn't that was reading a book is about? Having empathy for the characters and feeling their joys and sorrows?

His cousin, Brooklyn's own Sammy Clay, is looking for a partner in creating the heroes, stories, and art for the latest novelty to hit the American dreamscape: the comic book. Would you listen to The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay again? Why?
Maybe, I don't tend to re-read anything.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay?
Just following the characters through life. Being happy for them and sad with them and even disappointed in their decisions.
Which character – as performed by David Colacci – was your favorite?
Sam and Joe were equally enjoyable. I really felt myself rooting for them to succeed.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh and cry.
Any additional comments?
A great book and a great narration. It was long so it lasted awhile but not boring. The information about the comic books was interesting too. I was hesitant to download because I'm not a comic book fan, but Im so glad I did this book was about so much more. I did have to make sure I was paying attention or else I would get lost and miss transitions.
