grt story and narration

I loved the story. it was a great take on the Arthurian myth. king Arthur's story is one of my least favorite stories but this was well done and palatable to me. I adored the narration. it was almost perfect. after listening to an awful narration of a good story, this was even better than it may be to some. listen to the story. it is fun, light, clean, and funny.

Terrible narration

Good story but the narration was terrible. It was so bad I almost stopped listening. Dak’s impression was the only good one. Yanko sounded like a stereotypical lgbtq youth. Sicarius, who the author said had no accent, was read with an accent. I will say no more. The narrator did not suit the story. It has turned me off of listening to anything from this narrator. He was terrible. I cannot even see myself listening to this series again. Sad day.

Even though the story was improbable, it was good escapism.

So much rape and injustice…not relaxing

This has the bones of a good story but the amount of sounds of rapes, scenes of rape, were distressing. The mage having sex with three 14 year old girls was a turn off. I expect to have nightmares and not sure I can finish the story. I do not think this author will remain as an auto-buy for me. Really disgusted that she felt the need to use sexual assault to add gravitas to her story. Onto book two….hesitantly

Slow going but good in the end

The book started slowly. The death of a previous main character really made me dislike reading/listening to the story. Why kill him in the first few chapters? I adored him! He was the reason I started reading this author’s work and she killed him. Rant over.

The main characters were not as richly drawn as those in the previous series. I didn’t enjoy the almost sex scenes between teenagers, The book should have a warning somewhere. The storyline was eventually intriguing. I will continue the series.

Good but....

Fact check needed. The hymn, ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS, was written in the 19th century, long after the crusades were done. I've noticed that although he is a good teacher, Pastor Skip tends to mock some people. Otherwise good teaching.

plot holes and terrible narration

how can loki get pregnant for 9 mths, impregnate another woman but it is inconceivable that he could hold an axe to kill Otis? really bad narration. there was no way to differentiate among speakers. narration was robotic and almost dead. not a good listen.

The intonation was completely off in this one. Very distracting. Did the narrator have a cold? I could hear her breathing between words and some breaths sounded wet. It was my weirdest audiobook experience so far.
