The incredibility of no acknowledge
Revisado: 03-28-25
I liked the details descriptions of Franky's medical involvement, Feelings and descriptions of the destitude of a terrible war , I abhored the lack of acceptance, acknowledgement, and treatment of the veterans, especially the woman. Franky's romantic involvement, the pregnancy the miscarriage. the stroke, the car accident. the meeting of Roy again were too much in my opinion, causing the book to be a mediocre fast read. Thank you Kristin Hannah, for your important input, and for naming other books on this important subject

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

The strength of life
Revisado: 12-19-24
I loved this book from start to end, the characters, the depth of feeling of each, the incredulous will and strength of Isabelle and so much more. I am living in a country that has been at war for over a year, and so many young men are suffering from post trauma. the horrors of WWII were known to me ,

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Chemistry and the attitude towards women .
Revisado: 11-26-24
I felt there was much imagination in the book which I really liked, both the characters and the story. The approach was unique, taking facts that could happen anywhere and putting them all together caused the story to be less credible and yet the main point of women not beinf taken seriously came thru very strongly

A woven tale
Revisado: 10-23-24
I liked the endless intriguing tale, never a dull moment , making it hard to put down. It seemed to me very much a made up fairy tale, however, after hearing so many real stories of lives, anything can be possible, especially where there is a witch -Idaline, stirring the brew. Thank you Kate Morton for taking me away to other worlds. Thank you Caroline Lee for excellent reading.

It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

An amazing account
Revisado: 05-15-24
Philippe Sands succeeds in both telling a personal story and the devopment of two most important aspects of the wrongs of the human species. The description of the characters , their feelings or lack of them , at the time of their doing and later during the Nurenbyrg trials is impeccable. The suspence is kept throughout the book. I have and continue to reccomend this book as a must read.

The Periodic Table by Primo Levi is an impassioned response to the Holocaust: Consisting of 21 short stories, each possessing the name of a chemical element, the collection tells of the author's experiences as a Jewish-Italian chemist before, during, and after Auschwitz in luminous, clear, and unfailingly beautiful prose. It has been named the best science book ever by the Royal Institution of Great Britain and is considered to be Levi's crowning achievement.

Revisado: 02-01-24
This marvelous book has been sitting on my bookshelf for many years, waiting for the right time to address. It began slowly so I decided to perk it up by adding the audible version. The impecable narration added much to enjoying the stories, some better, some less, like life itself -good times and many not so good. As I have knowledge of chemistry and biology, I could follow the themes and ideas of each element, while becoming absorbed by the turbulent history of thev
the period of his life. The wording, vocabulary and ability of description are excellent. Thank you

sometimes loved it, other times found it almost boring , going on and on with no direction, but eventually totally got caught in the magic of this fantastic and tragic story, in the unfolding of stories within each with its own moral or commentary on todays western turn , even in traditional India. A must read again .
