I enjoyed the story, the characters, the evolution of relationships and the narration, which really highlighted the humor.

Always humorous, always touching, sometimes outlandishly funny. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wish the series would continue

I have enjoyed this as much as her Low Country series and for many of the same reasons: characters, plot, local and sociological details

Formulaic, with a detailed steamy scene or two, but if you're not expecting more, still a fun read.

I can't help but feel that this team of writers had a total blast creating this book...the narrator must have had so much fun, and couldn't have been more perfect

The music at the beginning of each chapter was fun, and thankfully was not playing during the narrative. I enjoyed the narrator, and the story was up to Heyer's usual high standards

I was surprised to find the story contained several inconsistencies and unanswered questions. The characters were poorly drawn compared to her other books. The narrator slipped in-and-out of the wrong voices. The audio skipped frequently. Still, it was a fun read.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series and am very much looking forward to the next book! The series is humorous, imaginative and exceedingly well researched . I feel like I have had a genuine look at many aspects of British life in 1908 - 1910. I have enjoyed the gradual unfolding of the background of the 2 main characters over the course of the series, particularly the first few books. The main characters are very likable, intelligent and talented.

I REALLY did not like this new format. The sound effects were distracting, and it was often hard to know who was speaking. Disembodied, unidentified voices would appear, sometimes just for a few sentences or less, and in some cases I never did figure out who was speaking. The lack of description of characters and settings made it difficult to form an image in my mind of what was going on. These are problems I have found with other "Audio Productions" with multiple narrators and an abundance of sound effects, so I generally avoid them. I tried listening to a Miss Marple mystery by Agatha Christie that was produced in the same format, mistakenly assuming that since I had read the whole series and was familiar with the characters I would find it easier to follow and it would be less annoying. Not so, and I couldn't finish listening to it. The same was true for a production of a P. G. Wodehouse book.
Listening to "Homefront", I felt like I was listening to a TV show with my eyes shut, and with the added handicap of many of the voices of familiar characters - very familiar characters-, being different from R C Bray's narration.
I would not have finished this book if I were not such a fan of the series. I kept slogging through it thinking that I didn't want to miss any important plot or relationship development in the series. Honestly, it was a chore, not a joy.
It's possible to utilize multiple narrators and sound effects successfully, as with the British radio show "Cabin Pressure ". This format did NOTwork for "Homefront ".
Oddly, in addition I kept feeling like the script hadn't been written by Craig Alanson! Some scenes were overblown, (Skippy's and Nagatha's embarrassing and humiliating dialogue about Joe when Adams arrives on the Dutchman is but one example), and many times the protagonists behaved out of character, (since when has Skippy been obsequious??).
The story felt forced, like it was merely a hurriedly written bridge to something new. A well-crafted contiuation of the story, not a contrived jumble, would have been better. Mr. Alanson created an elegant, believable transition in the 'Paradise ' series with the book, "Mavericks". I wonder if Alanson is trying to churn out too many books in too much of a hurry. I'd rather wait longer for something better.
