Historia
Prince Oak is paying for his betrayal. Imprisoned in the icy north and bound to the will of a monstrous new queen, he must rely on charm and calculation to survive. With High King Cardan and High Queen Jude willing to use any means necessary to retrieve their stolen heir, Oak will have to decide whether to attempt regaining the trust of the girl he’s always loved or to remain loyal to Elfhame and hand over the means to end her reign—even if it means ending Wren, too.

Resolves the story, but not an easy listen
Revisado: 04-07-24
Glad to get resolution to Oak and Suren’s story, but I really did not care for the performance. Holly Black’s other audio books were much easier listens than this one. If you like the Elfhame world and the Greenbriar characters, it’s worth the listen. But not as good or well-performed as the Jude/Cardin books.

Riveting story, but so sad!
Revisado: 04-06-23
This is a great listen. It’s a compelling story and Lauren Fortgang is just THE BEST audiobook narrator. But it’s a sad ending and takes a while to wind all the way down. I’m glad I listened, but am a bit depressed now.

Very compelling with great performance by the reader
Revisado: 06-30-22
This was an edge-or-your-seat story! Compelling and intriguing without gore or gratuitous violence. Lots of plots twists and not at all predictable. The descriptions get a bit lengthy and there are a lot of law enforcement characters to keep straight. The reader does an excellent job of distinguishing the character voices without being over dramatic; her voice is easy to listen to!

Riveting story, fantastic narrator
Revisado: 12-03-21
The narrator who performs this book is terrific. She uses accents to help distinguish each character, but the accents are well done and not irritating. She reads at a perfect pace. It’s a great fantasy story and I’m glad for the excellent performance to be able to enjoy the author’s writing.
