He makes ME laugh!
Revisado: 06-05-05
Reading the reviews I get the feeling you either love or hate David Sedaris. This was my second taste of his writing, and found it such a pleasure. Now I have heard two more books by the author, and I really can't imagine reading his work... his voice makes the stories so real. Perhaps someday I will pick up one of his books, but for now, I will listen to his stories. Over and over!

Historia
Welcome to the hilarious, strange, elegiac, outrageous world of David Sedaris. In Naked, Sedaris turns the current mania for the memoir on its proverbial ear, mining the exceedingly rich terrain of his life, his family, and his unique worldview, a sensibility at once take-no-prisoners sharp and deeply charitable.

Side-splittingly Funny
Revisado: 06-05-05
I first heard Sedaris' Live at Carnegie Hall, and since then can't get enough of him. Because this book was so short, I almost didn't buy it. I'm so glad I did! David and Amy should team up on more narrations... she added hilarious voice to hilarious writing. I recommend it as one of my favorites.

Too romantic
Revisado: 03-18-04
I really enjoyed Big Stone Gap, but this just had too much romance - gone wrong. Adequate for passing the time, but that's it.

Historia
In the spring of 1974, Calliope Stephanides, a student at a girls' school in Grosse Pointe, finds herself drawn to a chain-smoking, strawberry-blonde classmate with a gift for acting. The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

Great Narrarator
Revisado: 09-21-03
Great book, but more than that - a great narrarator! I am glad I didn't just go buy the book and read it because I would have missed out on excellent storytelling. In the future I will look for and purchase books read by Kristoffer Tabori, for his ability to bring the characters to life. One of the best I've heard!
