Historia
When Sophie, the least interesting of the Talbot sisters, lands her philandering brother-in-law backside first in a goldfish pond in front of all society, she becomes the target of very public aristocratic scorn. Her only choice is to flee London, vowing to start a new life far from the aristocracy. Unfortunately, the carriage in which she stows away isn't saving her from ruin. It's filled with it.

Breath of fresh air
Revisado: 11-23-21
After starting and stopping several really bad books in the same genre I was so happy to find this one! A very cute romance without the stereotypical plot twists and conversation. I love that Sophie stood up for herself and represented a different perspective of the aristocracy. The narrators voice was pleasant to listen to and I enjoyed her narration. Overall great read.

Sooooo slow
Revisado: 10-15-21
I just can’t finish it. I’m 15 chapters in and I feel like this could have been set up in 1 chapter. I’m so sick of hearing about “her mission” and the inner dialog. I just want to get to the story line. It could’ve good but it’s just so bad.

No kissing. No cuddling. No blah, blah, blah. He wrote the rules onto our skin - every ink stroke tragically smeared by the lines we’d crossed. He claimed it was the only way we could be together - the only way we wouldn’t destroy our families. But there was an exception to his rules - one he never saw coming. All I needed was opportunity and a sunburn. The girl who played by his rules is gone. This girl...is not his “friend”.

I tried... I really tried
Revisado: 05-18-21
I made it to chapter 12 and I couldn’t push through any longer. The narration was great but the story line was terrible. The entire conflict revolves around the very unbelievable forbidden relationship between Aspen and Bennett. I tried to see it through- but I never understood why they couldn’t just be together. The problem was unbelievable. I wanted Aspen to just slap Bennet in the face and tell him to stop controlling and dictating her. Break free Aspen!! This is not a healthy relationship! I will never know how they resolved their issues because I just can’t suffer through another moment of it. Give me a heroin that takes control of her life please. Not another victim.

Was it just the narrator or the storyline that was bad?
Revisado: 04-28-21
Ugh - the narration was just so bad. I love Julia Quinn but I just couldn’t finish it. I can’t tell if the storyline was bad too but the narration was definitely terrible. Please have Roselyn Landor Re-record this so I can finish it

Predictable
Revisado: 12-06-20
The author practically holds the readers hand as the story line and characters inner monologue and motivations are repeated and restated exhaustively ending exactly as predicted by chapter one. I don’t know why the other reviewers called the love scenes R- rated, if that were true, there might be something entertaining to hook the reader.

My new favorite Author
Revisado: 10-23-20
I live in the Wind Rivers and I am familiar with the land marks and country side described in the book and it was so enjoyable to read about.
I loved the characters and how Amy captured John’s struggle between his two worlds. Great read.
