Historia
Over the past several years, Dr. Becky Kennedy—known to her followers as “Dr. Becky”—has been sparking a parenting revolution. Millions of parents, tired of following advice that either doesn’t work or simply doesn’t feel good, have embraced Dr. Becky’s empowering and effective approach, a model that prioritizes connecting with our kids over correcting them. Parents have long been sold a model of childrearing that simply doesn’t work. From reward charts to time outs, many popular parenting approaches are based on shaping behavior, not raising humans.

As a dad of 4 and a pastor… I have read a number of parenting books and this may be the absolute best. Informative to the point of mind-blowing. Practical and assessable. Empowering and encouraging.

Truth & Grace
Revisado: 11-11-23
I was introduced to the Duggar family over a decade ago through their show and found them refreshing and perplexing. So legalistic and yet joyful. Over the past 5 years, it broke my heart but didn’t surprise me as news broke of the horrific things covered up.
As a result, I expected this book to be a defensive look at the past… instead it was gracious, truthful, honest, hopeful, and brought tears at certain points.
Amazing job, Ginger! Thank you!

Historia
Ff we spend our lives trying to be “the strong one,” we become exhausted, burned-out, and disconnected from our truest selves. What if it were different? Could there be a different way to be strong? Could strength mean more than pushing on and pushing through pain, bearing every heavy burden on our own? What if, instead, true strength were more like the tide: soft and bold, fierce and gentle, moving together as one powerful force? In Strong like Water, author and trauma therapist Aundi Kolber offers a framework for true flourishing.

Bring tissue…
Revisado: 11-04-23
I was crying within the first 10 minutes and not sure I stopped.
Such a deep, yet assessable, look at what it means to “work through” the trauma you and I have experience. Littered with helpful tips and resources while giving psychological insight and Scriptural support. I loved the author’s first work “Try Softer” but this might be better… it was definitely what I needed.

Historia
At the peak of his career and success, Ari Meisel nearly killed himself from exhaustion and overwork. He had to make a choice: He could let his "success" destroy him physically and mentally, or he could find a better way to live. He spent the next few years redesigning his life from scratch. Ultimately he found the way to reduce his workload by 80 percent while actually increasing results and success. Furthermore, he could spend time on what matters most: his family.

Quick & effective
Revisado: 10-24-23
Quick & effective … exactly what you would hope a book like this, written on this topic would be. This was a smaller and faster version of Atomic Habits in many ways but specific to our use of time. Put into practice, it would highly impact our lives (mine specifically) for the better.

I laughed and I cried
Revisado: 09-25-23
As a Christian male, reading Beth Moore was outside of my “zone”. She writes women’s Bible studies and speaks at women’s events… that’s not me.
Mrs. Moore, please forgive me.
This book was not only riveting but gently rebuking… it showed me the depth and beauty of those I only glance at for a moment and have a tendency to dismiss for a lifetime. I need this book and I am grateful that I now have the opportunity and privilege to learn from Mrs. Moore.

Historia
In The Emotionally Healthy Woman, Geri Scazzero provides you a way out of an inauthentic, superficial spirituality to genuine freedom in Christ. This book is for every woman who thinks, "I can't keep pretending everything is fine!" The journey to emotional health begins by quitting. Geri quit being afraid of what others think. She quit lying. She quit denying her anger and sadness. She quit living someone else's life. When you quit those things that are damaging to your soul or the souls of others, you are freed up to choose other ways of being.

Incredible and Assessible
Revisado: 08-18-23
My wife was listening and asked if I would be willing to listen along with her… so I did but I didn’t. I started with her but felt this book wasn’t just for her but for me as well. As a result, I “snuck” listens here and there and finished ahead of her… that’s how much I was challenged and encouraged. As a result, I feel healthier… so does she… and so do we.
I HIGHLY recommend checking this out no matter your gender.

Historia
For decades, Peter F. Drucker was widely regarded as "the dean of this country's business and management philosophers" ( Wall Street Journal). In this concise and brilliant work, he looks to the most influential position in management - the executive. The measure of the executive, Drucker reminds us, is the ability to "get the right things done". This usually involves doing what other people have overlooked as well as avoiding what is unproductive.

With Give and Take, Adam Grant not only introduced a landmark new paradigm for success but also established himself as one of his generation’s most compelling and provocative thought leaders. In Originals he again addresses the challenge of improving the world, but now from the perspective of becoming original: choosing to champion novel ideas and values that go against the grain, battle conformity, and buck outdated traditions. How can we originate new ideas, policies, and practices without risking it all?

Revisado: 11-01-22
From start to finish this book challenges the usual assumptions we (I) make about leadership, change, catalysts and who makes an impact. I felt encouraged as a leader, parent, and human. Worth the time and I will be listening again and again.
