Awesome Listen
Revisado: 03-25-25
I enjoyed the shifting perspectives and how each of the actors handled the character work. The story itself was a fun mix of fantasy, heist, and thriller. I purchased this book without having heard of Shadow and Bone or any of the author’s other works. However, that didn’t impact my enjoyment of the story and made me want to learn more about the world Bardugo crafted.

Historia
The Beijing Duck House in Rockville, Maryland, is not only a beloved go-to setting for hunger pangs and celebrations; it is its own world, inhabited by waiters and kitchen staff who have been fighting, loving, and aging within its walls for decades. When disaster strikes, this working family’s controlled chaos is set loose, forcing each character to confront the conflicts that fast-paced restaurant life has kept at bay.

Refreshing Dive into Chinese Culture
Revisado: 01-26-24
The story is well written and the characters are nuanced. The author skillfully captures the Chinese immigrant experience in the DMV with a real knack for detail. The voice actor does a good job giving each character a unique voice and conveying the tone of the narration. I enjoyed the realistic portrayal of this experience that offers an authentic look into the drama of the family and characters that populate the Duck House.
