Historia
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

I'm along for the ride with Harry.
Revisado: 11-17-24
Was it as engaging as the last two books? Not in the same way. He's grieving and trying to find reasons to keep going. I think after the build up to a city wide war with a Titan and the losses he is dealing with it makes sense. Grief, loss and destruction have to be dealt with, then the wacky world of Dresden can pick up speed again. I think that is what Butcher is showing the readers. I appreciated being a part of his recovery and Harry realizing he wanted to recover. He is on his way back and it could get very interesting. Marcone is even more of a challenge than before.

Revisado: 06-07-24
In the best way possible. Mr. Butcher tells good tales. Mr. Marsters performs above and beyond as always. Can the momentum continue? I hope and pray they both can. On to the new book as soon as possible!

Loss is a hard thing
Revisado: 03-12-24
There comes a time that people you love get old and their memory isn't what it used to be. Because of that I wondered if I would finish the story. If that is how memory gets as a person ages, things are going to get difficult for everyone.
It is very well performed and believable. I was relieved some clarity came at the end. The way it bounced around from past, present, sister, and friend could get a bit confusing but sorted itself out eventually. Try not to read this in a hurry. It is worth it to finish.

In the year of our Lord 1141, civil war over England's throne leaves a legacy of violence, and the murder of a knight dear to Brother Cadfael. Each book is worth a listen and it's well read. I was happy to have a character come back from a few books ago. No spoilers : ). I'm looking forward to listening to the next in the series.

Historia
Serenity is bound for the planet Kerry with a hold full of sealed unidentified cargo for the planet’s highest-ranking nobleman. The duke is a surprisingly genial man whose court brings all the fanciness and fun of Persephone’s high society but little of the pretension—and, most importantly, he’s got the promise of more work. Obliged to stick around while Inara is with a client—and hoping to score future employment—the crew settles in. The liquor flows freely at court, and there’s food, entertainment, and comfortable lodgings to enjoy.

Historia
This Audible Exclusive production revisits Charles Dickens’ tragi-comic novel Little Dorrit. Written during the Crimean War, it a story of fortunes won and lost and a masterly portrayal of the failings of Victorian Society, with the ever-present spectre of law enforcement and imprisonment looming over a fearful population. Divided into two parts, Book One: Poverty and Book Two: Riches, Little Dorrit satirises the debtors prisons and the detrimental effect of enforcing a British class system.

Revisado: 05-23-23
Juliet Stevenson is excellent! A true proficient in her craft, with no begad nonsense about her. Even without the nod to Mr. Sparkler, she was the best choice for Dickens' characters. Bleak House is my favorite but this one is high on my list to listen to again.

Booker T. Washington fought his way out of slavery to become an educator, statesman, political shaper, and proponent of the "do-it-yourself" idea. In his autobiography, he describes his early life as a slave on a Virginia plantation, his steady rise during the Civil War, his struggle for education, his schooling at the Hampton Institute, and his years as founder and president of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, which was devoted to helping minorities learn useful, marketable skills.

When she witnesses a small child tumbling from a ferry into Lake Champlain, Troy Chance dives in without thinking. Harrowing moments later, she bobs to the surface, pulling a terrified little boy with her. As the ferry disappears into the distance, she begins a bone-chilling swim nearly a mile to shore towing a tiny passenger. Surprisingly, he speaks only French. He'll acknowledge that his name is Paul; otherwise, he's resolutely mute.

Probably the best book club book.
Revisado: 06-08-22
You join a book club to read and socialize. Sometimes the books don't appeal to you but you try to read them anyway. This is NOT that kind of book. Right from the beginning I wanted to know what would happen and how Troy would react. To say I'm impressed would be an understatement. This was a great book and it is worth reading and or listening to. Good mystery. Good thriller. Maybe the accents done by the reader weren't always believable? I got over it, just to know what happened next. I would like to try another book from this author.
