Historia
For over 30 years, Dominion of Blades has been the hottest online role-playing game in the world. But the game is too real for some, and after an epidemic of real-life fatalities, public use of the immersion technology has been banned. Jonah wakes to find himself in-game, level one, with no memory of how he arrived and no way to eject. With only two companions, trapped in a world that once hosted millions, Jonah must battle his way across a treacherous landscape, fighting virtual monsters, all too real pain, and a very human enemy.

Not what I was expecting
Revisado: 02-06-24
Spoiler warning
People trapped in a game.. great idea, I’m in. The MC has ZERO knowledge of games in a timeframe of intergalactic travel.. what? Then 3/4ths of the way into the book it gets woke for no reason.
In the beginning the character Poppy is explained as a grown man in a kids body. This is funny and a great story point. Then much later, suddenly the MC who is a guy in game, is actually a woman IRL, okay… but wait, she thinks she’s a man… I almost removed the book right there, but stuck it out. Then it’s mentioned AGAIN, as well as the fact that in game “she”/MC(man) has a cock and how this is how she always felt.. wtf
This is a one and done for me with this series. I was hoping for more wonderful world building and great characters like in DCC.. but this ain’t it.

Another Banger
Revisado: 01-21-24
Biggest dislike came from the narrator. Just the way he says a few words. Up and that at the end of a sentence and my guy sounds like Forest Gump.
The story itself was great. Anytime I came to a part of the story where I had a question for example, “where is such-n-such character?” Seth almost immediately provided that detail. I continue to look forward to this series and book 4 onwards. Fantastic work.

Runner has a problem. He and 499,000 men and women are trapped in a game. He also just happens to be the only person from IT who could log everyone out safely. And he doesn't remember his password. He, like everyone else in this nightmare, had his memory scrambled or lost in the process of being loaded into the game. A single garbled message is his only clue to how to save everyone. The problem is that whoever loaded them into the game loaded their minds completely.

Ehh it’s alright
Revisado: 01-03-24
I picked up this book after it was mentioned in the last book of the series “Super Sale on Super Hero’s”. I Really enjoyed that series story. It was all over the place.
This book isn’t what I expected. I get that it’s book one of a new series, but not what I imagined. I only had two really big negatives. The automatic nicknames and the bugs. They were mentioned like 12 times.

Artorian's stroll onto Earth is cut short by a dagger in the back. Dealing with an unjust loss, he's torn between mourning what was lost and plotting a deviously calculated revenge. An eye for an eye, a stab for a stab. It's time to roll up those sleeves, whip out the master plan, and get down to crafting the narrative.

Is this really love?
Revisado: 12-13-23
I started this series with Travis Baldree as the voice. Now this is like the 3rd book with John and it’s not hitting the same. I’m not sure if it is just the writing that seems to have changed the old man or if it’s Johns take. But Artorian is very dark and full of vengeance throughout this story. The idea of Love having consequences seems like an attempt to lesson the darkness and it is stated multiple times. I have been struggling to finish the last few of this series which I hate myself for feeling.

Great story, the recap at the start was nice. Seemed like a spoiler when it mentions the addition of the other voice actors and their roles. I’ve wanted this book for so long and it was 26+hrs but it wasn’t enough. The Epilogue has me hyped for the next one!!!

Historia
Gabe Skelter has a temper, which he likes to imagine has the effect of causing people to fear and respect him. On the contrary, his pudgy, underdeveloped body and negative personality make him more your standard outcast teenager. Worse still, he kinda knows what a jerkweed he actually is. Then, in the middle of a class trip, Gabe finds himself spirited away to Regaia: a world of magic, mayhem, and nerd-tastic adventure. Naturally, he’s completely ill-prepared. But in this realm, he’s a monstrous, muscular man of action.

A great example
Revisado: 05-27-23
This book has many great examples of both good and bad writing. The main thing with writing is “show. Don’t tell” this book provides both throughout the story.
My issue with the audio is the multiple moments of just LOUD. Still a good listen.

Historia
Magick and myth and monsters, once confined to fairy tale, was loosed onto the world. The world of science and technology was a thing of the past; the realm of magick had taken its place. It is a dangerous place, no matter what path you take, no matter what side you’re on. For astrophysicist Edgar Cole, science was his world and his world of science was destroyed in just one day.

The “idea” is too big
Revisado: 05-21-23
Spoilers - Free copy review
To start off, Over all not a bad story. There are some interesting moments. A favorite was the science books being blank, so they repurposed the pages. Neat idea on the follow up. However. I think that the biggest problem for me was the idea of “science being gone” is too much of an odd thing to be “gone”. The author knows this and references this fact and provides examples of it not really being gone.
My issue with they narrator was the lack of character difference. Multiple people sounded the same, so with the multiple transitions of perspective and story, I had to check myself to make sure who they were talking about.
Mid read, but a good length to the story. Keep up the good work author McNevin

If you think life is a game, wait until you play death! Chris and Steve were quite happy sitting in their rooms playing online games until events in a kabab shop changed everything and reset all of the rules. A deal with the Grim Reaper could give them both a second chance at life if they can play the game of their lives inside some of the games they have only ever seen through a screen, until now. Luckily, they are not alone; friends they had not met, or maybe they had, help the new guys - the Noobs!

Not my cup of tea
Revisado: 03-17-23
There are just a few words that are so over used that it was a slough to get through. Bro, villager number (blank) and wood. I had to stop a few times to get to the end. The overall idea of the story is good. Jumping through games to revive. However The writing behind the idea didn’t do it for me. It seems written for kids but there are adult situations and several dick jokes. I’ll just say it’s not for everybody

Ronan and his friends stumble upon what remains of humanity after surviving the gauntlet that was their arrival. While both groups are supremely wary of each other, the necessity of cooperation wins out in the end. No one was expecting that the balance of power within the town of Wildwood was so fragile. Seeking to address the desperate need for resources leads Ronan to pitch his wildest idea yet: Dungeon Farming. The wildlife doesn’t take the sudden boldness of humanity in stride, but armed with more magic than ever, the stage is set for the survivors to thrive.

A solid continuation from book 1
Revisado: 02-25-23
This is a good follow up to book one.
There are still parts of the story that are weird and don’t click in regards to the levels and powers, but the writing keeps it interesting and kind of unimportant. The ending was frustrating and it seems like the main characters from the bunker are disregarding their Bec.

Ryan doesn’t remember much about his life before becoming dungeon core. Only that he had a bit of a disagreement with the church - something to do with a beheading? Now reborn, Ryan begins to arm his darkness dungeon with devious traps, bestial zombies, and ill-named skeletal creations, without doing anything too evil. Well, mostly. Some adventurers just deserve a stalactite to the head. But Ryan quickly learns being a darkness dungeon isn’t all loot and bone puns.

A little different
Revisado: 02-14-23
This is like the 10th sound booth audio book that I’ve listened to, and by far the most distracting. The sounds are way loud in many areas and odd in many others. The Narrators are doing their best, to then get over powered by a carnival esc. music. That was the biggest negative for me.
There are a few good things that the author has brought to this story that you don’t see in many/any others. I like the fusion and the fight club to help with the evolving.
I like the attempt to matching multiple culture connections. But many seem forced to the story and lose some of the charm (Leeroy)
I hope the author keeps telling stories and improves.
