Historia
Tina Swithin discovered that there is only one thing more difficult than being married to a narcissist, and that is divorcing a narcissist or someone with a high-conflict personality. In her book, Tina will explain how a smart, independent woman can fall prey to a narcissistic man. Tina discusses the red flag reflections that initially, she didn’t recognize as concerning while dating and during the marriage. When Tina’s plight to protect her children began, she was forced to act as her own attorney due to severe financial abuse.

Amazing strength, some editing issues
Revisado: 06-26-22
I thought the narrator was great to listen too. This title was just re-released right before I bought it and there are some issues with a few lines being repeated and I think a part of a chapter was repeated/duplicated as well. I am grateful to have the chance to listen to it despite the minor editing errors.
Tina is a warrior and tells her story with detail and in a way that is relatable and easy to follow. I grateful appreciated her sharing her experience, this was helpful for me to read in my current life situation.
I would highly recommend this to anyone in a stressful relationship to know what red flags to look for in the narcissistic way of thinking.

Historia
One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, a genius; Gail Wynand, a newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire; and Dominique Francon, a devastating beauty.

A beautiful story based on principles
Revisado: 07-23-21
A friend recommended this book to me telling me it was her favorite book. It's much longer than any book I have listened to this far. It took me a couple chapters to get into it and adjust to the narrator's voice and style of reading, as well as the wordy writing of Ayn Rand.
This book was extremely thought provoking. It is a beautiful story of a man who lives his life for him, something that many people see as selfish, but something that our world needs more of. We cannot rise to be great or fulfill our dreams without putting our own needs first and honoring our own desires and our personal creative process. It compares the achievers and bold thinkers who create and build things for our world, contested with "Second Handers" who only take, copy and try to rule other people.
These principles are commonly misunderstood, Ayn shows them well through her writing. She illustrates how glorifying the mundane and pretending it is spectacular is a tactic used to keep societies under control. She illustrates so many amazing principles that our country is struggling against now, just as it was in this narrative that took place in the 1930s.
I don't entirely agree with the morals, as faithfulness to a person isn't really a core principle here, but it made sense with the story. There is intimacy but it's not super descriptive nor is it inappropriate.
I thought this was an amazing book and feel it was worth my time and I definitely recommend it.

Historia
Do you ride the escalator or do you take the stairs? No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an "escalator world", one that's filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end - and, most important, it won't take you where you want to go.

Motivating, practical, inspiring
Revisado: 04-29-19
Listened to this on a quick road trip in just a couple days and thoroughly enjoyed it. I hadn't heard of Rory Vaden, but he was speaking at the event I was going to do I listened to his book on the way to it and after it again, he did not disappoint. This book contains so many great tops, strategies and insights and I bought the physical copy to go back and highlight my favorite parts.

"Whether by design or by chance," Terryl and Fiona Givens write, "we find ourselves in a universe filled with mystery. We encounter appealing arguments for a Divinity that is a childish projection, for prophets as scheming or deluded imposters, and for scripture as so much fabulous fiction. But there is also compelling evidence that a glorious Divinity presides over the cosmos, that His angels are strangers we have entertained unawares, and that His word and will are made manifest through a sacred canon that is never definitively closed."

Loved it
Revisado: 01-05-18
I really enjoyed this book. Her voice is so soothing and pretty to listen to and the information was incredible. The book is really thoughtful and had me thinking quite a bit about every sentence, the words that they used and the concepts they discussed. I had to pause and replay parts of it several times and I bookmarked 100 different places to go back and listen to again! Overall I really loved it though. I even went back and bought the physical book so that I could highlight the parts that I really liked. It is inspiring and aligns with my beliefs, and I really enjoyed how they viewed and discussed God's plan, the world and the probability of what we will find in heaven. Thank you for a wonderful book!
