Would you try another book from Anne Patrick and/or Leonor A Woodworth?

Neither. Nope. Not ever.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'll head back to Dee Henderson territory.

Would you be willing to try another one of Leonor A Woodworth’s performances?

Nope.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ties That Bind?

Most of them? I'm quitting part way through because the characters annoy me, the romance is so contrived and fake and distracts from the story... which isn't even very interesting.

Any additional comments?

Ugh. Just ugh. Nothing redeeming in the story line.

Dee Henderson's story is first and it's really good. I enjoyed it a lot. The next two stories were artificial with weak and foolish women as main characters. I found myself regularly annoyed with them. Dani Pettrey's story had a very fake feeling romance and seemed more from the perspective of a young teen. Her writing didn't pull through the story but instead made me wish it would just be over. And it's a short story. Therese Plummer's story lacked clarity. Even after finishing it the pieces don't all fit together. Some of this may be due to the reader not distinguishing flashbacks well, but it lacks connecting information. I was disappointed overall.

Realistic in some good ways. Glad to see a new series beginning without leaving everything hanging.

Enjoyable story. Lost my interest a few times, and the female characters were a little flatter that I've seen from Heyer. But I enjoyed it and the performance was excellent.

What disappointed you about To Protect & Serve, Volume 1?

I'm several hours in and nothing has happened in the plot. I don't care about how much the characters are mooning after each other and how they have so suddenly become entirely dependent on each other after meeting once.

Has To Protect & Serve, Volume 1 turned you off from other books in this genre?

I love Dee Henderson's books, ok with Irene Hannon's, but this is boring.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It's not too graphic.

Any additional comments?

The reading is also a bit monotonous.
