Good story!
Revisado: 01-28-23
** Somewhat of a Spoiler **
This story was good. It has a slow start and get better as you dive deeper into the story. I do like how the past and Present comes to meet and the different point of views. But the 3rd person perspectives did catch me a bit off guard since its already from different POVs.
Overall tho, it has a good story line. The plot twist was crazy. (im talkin more on who the actual killer is..)
The narrators was okay. I was a bit disappointed with the lack of accents tho lol. Feel like it gives it that lil razzle dazzle when reading a story about African folktales.

LOVE IT!!
Revisado: 01-06-23
Love the second part as much as I loved the first part. Although for me personally It was pretty obvious who was Simi had to keep an eye out for. my only suggestion for the next book is to not make it so obvious. aside from that, love everything about this book. the adventure, the friendship, the romance, the fantasy. I'm looking forward to the 3rs book. cant wait to find out what other adventure Simi, Kola and the gang will explore.
The narrator !!! I love this narrator so much. She really does a great job expressing the characters emotions and characteristics.

Loved it. This story was soooo good. Love All the characters, All the mythical beings that were mentioned. As a african/black woman that Love fantasy books, I am genuinely happy with a fantasy book that revolves around African people. It felt Good to read this book. I felt like I can Actually be apart of this books world. I can picture myself in it and not feel out of place. (there's like a movie in my head as I read lol)
Anyway great book!
The story of Simi and Kola adventure was beautifully told. As well as the stories of the Orisas. I look forward to the next book. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil the book for new readers. but just know its a good read/listen. be opened and give it time for the story to develop and start flowing.
Also, The narrator is Amazing!! She did a wonderful job embodying and expressing the emotions of the characters. I would love to listen to more stories she narrates.

Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

I loved it. It gave what it was suppose to give.
I love the characters. Love the growth of their relationship. Like how they show their own growth. Their emotions was real and raw. It was relatable. But gosh did 'Poppy' Annoy the hell outta me sometimes 🤦🏾♀️
The book kept me wanting more. Wanting to know what will happen next. And that Ending! What a cliffhanger!
The narrator was Amazing as usual. She always do such a great job at delivering the emotions.
The only thing I would like to see more of is more non physical intimacy. Dont get me wrong the physical intimacy is too good for its own good( especially with the way the narrator expresses it.) But I want to feel the love between them as their relationship matures.
Either way great book. Cant wait to stay all night trying to finish the next one lol

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I cried, cussed, cheered and laughed, alot lol. The characters are very likeable. Main girl is a bit frustrating towards the ending tho 🤦🏾♀️ buuuuut for reasonable reasons, I'll give her that lol. overall I enjoyed this book. I look forward to the second one.
The narrator tells the story so well. she's does an Amazing job delivering the emotions of the characters. fells like im actually listening in on their conversations.
side note, I love how the author doesn't over do it with descriptions, she describes what needs to be describes and carrys on. helps the story progress in a really imaginative way.

Calm before the storm
Revisado: 03-24-21
I loved it. Just like all the others.
I was a bit wary since it received a lot of negative reviews but I appreciate the subtleness. After the last book this was a good approach. I like how we got to see from some of the other characters perspective as well. Giving us insight on what the others were seeing and feeling. Letting us get a feel on how everyone is coping after the war. I feel this book was meant for us to just understand the characters. It was suppose to be light. a nice calm before the storm that I'm guessing will come in the next book. Overall I really enjoyed it.

This book had a little bit of everything. Loved it! I If you're looking for a fantasy book that will keep you wanting more, have you explore your imagination, engage yourself by questioning the choices you would make if you were any of the characters in the story, then this book/series is a good choice. Loved this book. Fell in love with the characters (even Nesta lol) nd the family. It felt like I was part of their world.
And Boy! Did I go through a roller coaster of emotions. Especially towards the end. Crying then laughing, the cursing, then laughing, the crying. Would of thought I went crazy lol 😂
*************SPOILER from here on**************
SPOILER!!!
I do wanna know what Nesta was going to tell Feryre when they were in the library tho. I wanna know why she pushes Feyre away. Why she only looks After Elain. Also, wth will happen to those old bitches. cant believe they gave up that one queen just for youth smh. I so many questions. Like Why the hell did she kill off the Dad! im so mad about that! And what a plot twist. Elain giving the final blow! and I wonder how Alis is doing.
Loved this book. The writer is Amazing!
