The thing that stood out for me was these incredible service people, head first risking it all. Regardless of your political slant or moral lines on war, it’s impossible not to consider them hero’s.

Historia
Most of us are unable to develop our capacities for love on the only level that really counts — a love that is compounded of maturity, self-knowledge, and courage. Learning to love, like other arts, demands practice and concentration. Even more than any other art, it demands genuine insight and understanding.

In 1998, William Queen was a veteran law-enforcement agent with a lifelong love of motorcycles and a lack of patience with paperwork. When a "confidential informant" made contact with his boss at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, offering to take an agent inside the San Fernando chapter of the Mongols (the scourge of Southern California, and one of the most dangerous gangs in America), Queen jumped at the chance.

Historia
A Brief History of Everything is an altogether friendly and accessible account of men and women's place in a universe of sex, soul, and spirit, by Ken Wilber. Wilber examines the course of evolution as the unfolding manifestation of Spirit, from matter to life to mind, including the higher stages of spiritual development where Spirit becomes conscious of itself. In each of these domains, there are recurring patterns, and by looking at them, we can learn much about the predicament of our world - and the direction we must take if "global transformation" is to become a reality.

Revisado: 01-26-20
I enjoyed this book. Ken has a great way of taking what is seemingly impossibility esoteric and delivering it to you in a relatable way. It’s balanced and non dogmatic and would serve as a great foundation of how to navigate reality for any young (or old) person. :)

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

Historia
Though created by humans, our technologies, markets, and institutions often contain an antihuman agenda. Douglas Rushkoff, digital theorist and host of the NPR-One podcast Team Human, reveals the dynamics of this antihuman machinery and invites us to remake these aspects of society in ways that foster our humanity. In 100 aphoristic statements, his manifesto exposes how forces for human connection have turned into ones of isolation and repression.

Maybe then - they would go into the world thinking and framing humanity as an asset & community as something to strive for. Some of the book is idealistic in tone, but it feels on purpose.. like for a little extra nudge. Thanks Douglas, I value your contribution to team human!

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Deeper than you may initially think
Revisado: 09-19-19
It would be easy to listen to this and take it for its basic level, which would be interesting but not profound.. but when you really think about the bigger message of this and apply it in your life and in society.. it’s so interesting & important. I loved the way it was delivered. Setting the benchmark for how to bring an audiobook to life. Thanks Malcolm.

Revisado: 03-24-19
I’ve listened to this book 5 times and, I’m sure I will listen again. I’m so glad Josh narrates it and so thankful for the wisdom it holds.
I think it would be easy to take a surface view and dismiss it as just a good bunch of stories about his life and then miss the real insight and details hidden in between each.
Few books have changed the way I think & reassured my uncommon path than this one - thanks to both Josh & Tim for bringing it to life.
