Historia
While the major fighting of the war moves to the south in the summer of 1779, a British force of fewer than a thousand Scottish infantry, backed by three sloops-of-war, sails to the desolate and fog-bound coast of New England. Establishing a garrison and naval base at Penobscot Bay, in the eastern province of Massachusetts that would become Maine, the Scots - the only British troops between Canada and New York - harry rebel privateers and give shelter to American loyalists....

Interesting Story, Horrible Narration
Revisado: 10-23-10
I did find the story interesting but it was almost impossible to listen to this one. Perhaps the narrator could work on other tales adequately, but I will remember his name and question whether to listen to other books he's involved with.

Decent Story: Very Difficult to Listen To!
Revisado: 06-23-10
There are books to actually read and some to listen to. This one was certainly one to read and not to listen to. The narration drove me crazy. I will not listen to another book by the narrator unless he completely loses that accent. I've listened to other books about the south with other narrators and have enjoyed them, but this one hurt. I did get through the book and actually enjoyed the story, so I'll perhaps try another by this same author.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A performance so poignant, we gave Bronson Pinchot (yes, Balki from Perfect Strangers) our inaugural Narrator of the Year award.... In the monsoon season of 1968-69 at a fire support base called Matterhorn, located in the remote mountains of Vietnam, a young and ambitious Marine lieutenant wants to command a company to further his civilian political ambitions. But two people stand in his way.

Good Story_So-So Narration!
Revisado: 05-11-10
I enjoyed listening to this book but there were so many characters in this book that at times I was a bit confused as to who was who, but overall, it gave one a sense of the futility of our Vietnam experience. The narrator was not the greatest, but he was encumbered by the number of characters he had to try and depict.

Finished but just Barely!
Revisado: 04-26-10
The story starts fine and sets the stage for a good legal thriller, but then the book rambles on and on with unoriginal characters, and with a very implausible storyline. The story slows down to a crawl at times that I nearly gave up! The author could have cut down on the length of the story and also on so much extended dialogue which would have given the story much more zip. Maybe next time, although I'm not sure I'd go for another book of his.

A fascinating account of an Army captain's unusual path through some of the most legendary seats of learning straight into a brutal fight with Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, The Unforgiving Minute is, above all, an unforgettable portrait of a young soldier grappling with the weight of his hard-earned knowledge while coming to grips with becoming a man.

Nicely Done!
Revisado: 05-31-09
I found this very interesting without it being totally gung ho or overly jingoistic as other similar stories I've read. Craig gives a nice insight into the blending of a military life with an academic bent to it. It gave me a view that I haven't really appreciated before. Good story but I wanted more at the end. I'm sure his story will continue.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 05-25-09
I kept hearing about this author and decided to try this book. The book itself was good but it was thoroughly tainted by the terrible narration. The accents of the different characters were horrible. I am of Spanish descent and her pronunciation of different words was actually pretty good, but her Mexican, Cuban, and American character accents kept me from rating this audible book higher than I did. I will try another McKinty book again, but I will not listen to this narrator in the future.

January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

Superb!
Revisado: 03-26-09
Every once in a great while, I come across a book that I just love. This is one of them. The narration and the story are superb. I'm sure that if I had read the book, it would have been good, but the actual listening to it brought a whole other dimension to the enjoyment of it. It reminded me of 84 Charing Cross Road. That's another classic.

Not Up to Par!
Revisado: 04-26-08
The subject matter was interesting but the story just didn't flow right. It read like a lot of disconnected stories, and not all of them was completed. Not one of Jodi's better stories. Hopefully she's back in full force next time.
