Good writing, great characters & performance

Excellent audio performance. Overall a well-written story that felt like Star Wars and there were some great adventurers with characters. There were some nice payoffs and connections for fans to other canonical novels. This was supposed to be the continued story line between episode 8 and 9 that involved the main characters of those movies. But it was a bit disconnected from many of the storylines and themes of The Last Jedi. Also, there weren't any new characters or storylines that carried over into The Rise of Skywalker

Claudia Gray is the best current Star Wars author out there & Jonathan Davis is the best Star Wars audio book performer. They don't disappoint here.

Solid narration of an intriguing Star Wars story.

this is a very well-thought-out story of the character mentioned in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Darth Plagueis, and his influence on Darth Sidious (Palpatine). it also gives great insight into how the Sith operate and how they use the dark side of the Force. this book could be Canon as it fits into the new Disney Star Wars galaxy very easily.

Decent, confusing w/ multiple timelines & narrator

probably my least favorite Star Wars book that I have listened to on Audible. the main storyline was pretty good but the going back and forth previous timelines and narrators made it confusing and hard to follow.
