Dull and bad acting
Revisado: 04-19-25
The story line feels very dull, with repetitive phrasing, overly flowery language, and a predictable boring love story. The book is very obviously heavily influenced by other stories. The voice actress for Feyre uses such an obnoxious and phoney voice for the character that doesn't sound natural at all and makes me cringe a bit every time I tried to listen. I regret wasting a credit on this audiobook.
Also, the graphic audio isn't for me. The background noises are distracting and make hearing the words difficult at times.

A chore to listen to!
Revisado: 12-10-22
Horrible job by the narrator and honestly, the content sucked too. Spends way too much time beating around the bush and then basically bragging about "world class this" and "luxury that". Awfully similar to name-dropping to get attention. Ended up giving up because it was bringing down my morning commute to listen to that garbage.

Historia
In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created? Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

Historia
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring.

Historia
Teenage girls are taking courses of testosterone and disfiguring their bodies. Parents are undermined; experts are over-relied upon; dissenters in science and medicine are intimidated; free speech truckles under renewed attack; socialized medicine bears hidden consequences; and an intersectional era has arisen in which the desire to escape a dominant identity encourages individuals to take cover in victim groups. Every person who has ever had a skeptical thought about the sudden rush toward a non-binary future but been afraid to express it - this book is for you.

Essential Reading
Revisado: 03-10-21
I found this book while trying to look up reading material to explain the rapid onset of gender confusion in my young teen daughter...a formerly normal and VERY feminine girl. Not being the most feminine mom myself and also part of the LGBT, this was weird to me.
Listening to this book, it was basically exactly my/our experience. My daughter was sexually abused at one point by another family member and the gender confusion was what led to the discovery. She's not trans or non-binary or anything else, she's a TRAUMATIZED girl! She is literally the type that becomes the stereotypical detransitioner.
I have nothing against actual trans adults but the trans movement has exploded lately to cult-like proportions, exploiting vulnerable kids/young people with fragile mental. And we have all been mass gaslit into going along with it because anything less than fill enthusiastic support is met with cries of "transphobia!"
The author was respectful of trans adults (loved the interview with Buck Angel, an older transman adult film star), researched well, and did the due diligence necessary to give us a comprehensive picture of the situation. I feel now that all the complaints and negative reviews come either from those who didn't read the book through (or at all lol) or trans activists who are absolutely terrified of their agenda being compromised in any way.

Kind of boring, actually
Revisado: 06-16-20
I don't know why but this story was rather dull, for having such an interesting premise. Definitely didn't deserve the high overall rating it got.

just OK
Revisado: 04-07-20
This book is decent but it doesn't account for the more extremely instances where a person's reactions (seeming emotional immaturity) are justified in context. And there are plenty of things in here that, with that in mind, could make even a normally emotionally mature person seem emotionally immature. But overall it was still a useful book.
