Historia
Inheriting your uncle's supervillain business is more complicated than you might think. Particularly when you discover who's running the place. Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie. But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits.

Good elevated to excellent by Wheaton
Revisado: 09-30-23
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was late for a meeting because I didn't want to stop listening. A good, enjoyable story elevated to extremely entertaining thanks to Wheaton's narration. I rarely visit fiction books twice but I will definitely return to this in the future.

Historia
Before it was a religion, a culture, or even a system of meditation, what was Buddhism? On Buddhism Without Beliefs, celebrated teacher, translator, and former Buddhist monk Stephen Batchelor takes us back to the first years after the Buddha's awakening to reveal the root insights of Buddhism hidden beneath centuries of history and interpretation.

This is not the book you are looking for.
Revisado: 08-29-21
The problem with rating systems is they don't allow for errors on the part of the publisher. This is advertised as the audio version of Batchelor's Buddhism Without Beliefs but is in fact NOT THE BOOK. Not sure how Amazon or the publisher gets away with this on a legal level, especially when you look at the page Amazon site where this audio version is sold as if it the book.
So for that reason, I'm disappointed and a peeved. I like to read as I listen when working through non-fiction books with deep thoughts.
So that is why I had to give this such a low rating.
However, it's not a bad book. The subject matter is more in the style of lectures on topics. So I might recommend this to someone not looking for the true material.
There, that is why this whole rating and "like" system we're being pushed into doesn't work.

Historia
There’s no doubt that technology has made it easier to communicate. It’s also easier to shut someone out when we are confronted with online discourse. Why bother to understand strangers - or even acquaintances - when you can troll them, block them, or just click “Unfriend” and never look back? However briefly satisfying that might be, it’s also potentially eroding one of our most human traits: empathy.

Audiobook Good Content Bad Narrator
Revisado: 11-18-20
The content is worth a read but the author narrated her own book and she needs training on how to read. It's quite unlistenable.
