What is the deal with the British Narrator???

I am reading this on my kindle and as I often do, I got the audible version once I got into the story so I could still live a somewhat productive life and have my book. The story is set in Virginia, in the United States so I cannot tell you how it bummed me out to hear it being read by a woman with a British or maybe Australian accent! The author is male for one thing. I have noticed some little things that tell me he might not be from the U.S. such as the use of the word “Bum” for Butt but still...it is set in the Untied States! I don’t know who’s idea this narrator was, and nothing personal to you Ms. Narrator, you’d be great doing a book set in England I am sure, but this book is not, and the characters use some back woods phrases which do not sound right spoken by this narrator.
I gotta say it was a surprise when I began listening and NOT a good one.
Horrible move guys.
