You Have To Do Better Than This

The Garden Needs More Attention

Not at all what I expected. I kept listening and thinking that there had to be some substance to the story coming up somewhere, but it never quite made the grade beyond rambling dream interpretations and a more fiction-like storyline. Still, there were some good reminders for Christians that are well worth hearing again. Kathy Lee Gifford's narration was by far the best part of this book that could and should have been so much more.

What would have made Ask Deepak About Love & Relationships better?

This should have offered more realistic relationship advise and featured less twisted stories that most listeners could never ever relate to, even if they tried.

Has Ask Deepak About Love & Relationships turned you off from other books in this genre?

Many other books in this genre offer much better advise than this book. Going way back to author Barbara DeAngelis, or more recently Gary Chapman's books, both of those authors and others have more realistic stories and much more relatable problems.

What didn’t you like about Deepak Chopra and Joyce Bean ’s performance?

Joyce Bean's performance was annoying. I have never heard a female narrator pretending to sound like a man when she read letters written by a male. Why bother? It's so disconcerting. Just read the stories! Deepak Chopra was fine. He was the expected Deepak. However, whoever produced this book and built the letters, the questions and the answers missed the mark entirely. This is a very depressing review of life at it's worst, making the reader or listener trudge through the mud and the muck. And, what have we achieved in the end? If anybody actually feels better after hearing, I would be amazed. If you have these kinds of serious problems, you need to see your own selected licensed therapist instead of seeking quick answers from an audiobook. Very, very disappointed in what I heard and I felt totally deceived by the way this book was marketed toward us.

Huge disappointment. A total waste of time and money.

In the future, I would hope to see more thoughtful choices before promoting something as a special purchase.

Great stories, excellent narration and thought provoking ideas and suggestions.

Multiple stories were of great interest and worth sharing with others.

Have you listened to any of Mark Batterson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time listening to anything by Mark. Very good!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. At no point in the recording did either the story or narrator lose my full interest.

Any additional comments?

I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject of prayer, faith or one's purpose in life. Very inspiring work.

I Shoulh Have Known Better

What disappointed you about The Inside-Out Revolution?

Lacks any substance or helpful tips. Likewise, no memorable stories - just contained rambling random thoughts.

Would you ever listen to anything by Michael Neill again?

Doubtful.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Michael Neill?

Michael's voice was not the problem. He's a fine narrator. The content lacked any useful information.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Extremely disappointed.

If this is a person's only exposure to Michael's work, it's doubtful they will ever sample anything again. That's a shame, because he is better than this work. I should have known better when he began the book by apologizing, saying that it contained no helpful tips, step-by-step guides or any plan of action. This book was nothing but pure "stream of consciousness" that lacks substance and generally leaves everyone but the author totally unsatisfied. So very disappointed with this purchase.

Maybe The Best Storyteller Since Mark Twain

What made the experience of listening to Love Life the most enjoyable?

Rob is totally into telling great stories, complete with voices and sound effects that will make you laugh, cry and feel completely alive.

What other book might you compare Love Life to and why?

Rob's first book was simply amazing! I would highly recommend reading (or listening to) that one. too. Perhaps, his first book was one of the best autobiographical accounts ever by anyone. This is equally entertaining, emotional and touching with all new stories.

What about Rob Lowe’s performance did you like?

He's authentic - a rare commodity in Hollywood these days.
