Historia
As a teen, Daymond John immersed himself in the burgeoning rap scene and quickly started to recognize that the people in the hip-hop community were being ignored and even looked down upon by major players in the fashion industry. Frustrated with this disconnect and passionate about the hip-hop community and culture, John and three of his best childhood friends started the iconic fashion label FUBU (For Us By Us) in John’s mother’s home in Queens.

Great story, nicely read by the man himself.

I'm a big fan of books that tell the stories of how companies were created and enjoyed listening to Daymond retell the story of the founding of FUBU which grew from nothing to a multi million dollar clothing line. I enjoyed having him narrate it as he was there and it made it much more personal and impactful. I've enjoyed watching him on Shark Tank and consider him one of the greatest african-american businessmen of all time.

If you are a hip hop fan and want "the real" about the "World's Most Dangerous Group" and all the players that paved the way for West Coast hip hop, this is the audiobook for you, told by the man who was there from the very beginning.

If you've ever been to a picnic and have been captivated by an Uncle or family member sharing a story about something that happened in the past then this book is for you. It does a great job retelling what the scene was like pre NWA and how he contributed to the group's formation. If the book had been narrated by a professional narrator or someone other then the author it would have probably lost most of it's appeal. Most of what makes it enjoyable is hearing the first hand account from the man himself even with all the narration mistakes that it has. He comes across as totally authentic, not playa hating and takes no more or less credit than he deserves. Part hustler, part businessman but 100% real and from the perspective of an OG who was there when it happened. Highly recommend.
