Historia
Insurrection is in the air in the city of Ankh-Morpork. The Haves and Have-Nots are about to fall out all over again. Captain Sam Vimes of the city's ramshackle Night Watch is used to this. It's enough to drive a man to drink. Well, to drink more. But this time, something is different - the Have-Nots have found the key to a dormant, lethal weapon that even they don't fully understand and they're about to unleash a campaign of terror on the city. Time for Captain Vimes to sober up.

Excellent

One of my favourite Discworld books and great narration. Vimes voiced as Les Dawson took a little getting used to but once it clicked, it worked really well for me.

Historia
A place of myths, rumours and secrets, The Hotel looms over the dark Fens, tall and grey in its Gothic splendour. Built on cursed land, a history of violent death suffuses its very foundations - yet it has a magnetism that is impossible to ignore. Here are the stories of The Hotel: stories of children, mothers, monsters, cult film-makers, thrill-seekers and workers on the night shift, all with their own tales of its strange power, of the horrors of Room 63, and of desperate but failed attempts to escape its seductive pull.

I really enjoyed this collection of interlinked stories. All very well read with a nice choice of narrators to suit each character. I got this feeling of gentle, growing dread as each story progressed and there were some genuinely chilling scenes.

Historia
In his 11th novel, Tim Powers takes his unique brand of speculative fiction into uncharted territory, instilling the old-fashioned espionage novel with a healthy dose of the supernatural. As a young double agent infiltrating the Soviet spy network in Nazi-occupied Paris, Andrew Hale finds himself caught up in a secret, even more ruthless war. Two decades later, a coded message draws Professor Andrew Hale back into Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

So well narrated

I’d bought this as a book, since the premise really appealed to me, but found it quite a difficult read. Great story, but I struggled to get it to click. This audiobook with excellent narration by the brilliant Simon Prebble made it snap into focus right from the opening lines. A great narration.
