Historia
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

I loved how open she was about her relationship with her mother and how complicated it can be.

Historia
The New York Times Magazine’s award-winning “1619 Project” issue reframed our understanding of American history by placing slavery and its continuing legacy at the center of our national narrative. This new book substantially expands on that work, weaving together 18 essays that explore the legacy of slavery in present-day America with 36 poems and works of fiction that illuminate key moments of oppression, struggle, and resistance.

Revisado: 02-27-22
This should be required reading for every high school history class in the nation-no, the world!!! It’s being challenged because it is precisely what has been strategically hidden from school history books. They don’t want you to connect the dots!!! NHJ’s work will be pivotal in changing America.

I guess we need a sequel!
Revisado: 11-17-20
I hope John Grisham is not done with Ford County. The story was well written and the narrator pulls you in. His blaccent is sometimes annoying but not to the point of distraction.

What just happened?
Revisado: 05-23-19
Uzodinma, there better be a sequel to this book! I get leaving people wanting more, but this book completely changed full course and left so many questions unanswered. There were so many themes left unexplored. It’s sad because a good opportunity was missed to discuss these things that plague African communities but each part was not given the attention it deserved. He had me totally engaged until he switched the story and abandoned the critical journey of this boy. It’s almost pointless to read.

Hard to listen to
Revisado: 02-20-19
The pronunciation in the reading is so bad that is detracts from the story. Sometimes you can’t figure out what they are trying to say! The narrator should have been coached by someone well versed in Igbo or hire someone that already knows!
