I’m on the fence
Revisado: 03-11-25
Without knowing who the author is, I feel like they’re young. There’s a lot of overly simplistic themes in the story. And things that don’t make sense. But at the same time, I’m still listening so that’s something.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Whiny & boring at first, then gets better
Revisado: 01-18-25
Nesta is supposed to be tough, but she’s irritatingly whiny. Poor me, I’m a beautiful powerful fae 🙄. It’s incredibly boring for the first quarter of the story and so I almost didn’t finish it. It does get better as it goes on.

So so SO annoyed with main character voice
Revisado: 11-15-24
Main character’s inner dialog and voice don’t match. The inner dialog voice is great, but every time main character talks, she sounds like a man… or a woman pretending to be a man. It’s jarring and makes it hard to enjoy the story. She sounds like a man, so much so that it always takes a few seconds to figure out if it’s her talking or one of the male characters!

Good story, great world building
Revisado: 11-14-24
On a separate note, I really wish the narrator knew how to pronounce “cache” - and yes I agree with other reviews that the sex scenes were more of a story interruption than anything else

An evil king has been toppled, and they are left to face the consequences of the reluctant role they played in his reign of terror. Now they are hated and alone, exiled to the outskirts of society. Throughout the land, hushed voices whisper of brittle ground and a faint scent of brimstone in the air—and Murtagh senses that something wicked lurks in the shadows of Alagaësia. So begins an epic journey into lands both familiar and untraveled.

So slow
Revisado: 02-28-24
This is the first of the Eragon series that I have found myself skipping forward. And that is something I rarely do. It was slow and repetitive. And I just didn’t care about a lot of the filler. also Thorn didn’t play into the story as much as sapphira did.

Historia
What does it mean to earn the silver oakleaf? So few men have done so. For Will, a mere boy, that symbol of honor has long felt out of reach. Now, in the wake of Araluen's uneasy truce with the raiding Skandians comes word that the Skandian leader has been captured by a dangerous desert tribe. The Rangers are sent to free him. But the desert is like nothing these warriors have seen before. Strangers in a strange land, they are brutalized by sandstorms, beaten by the unrelenting heat, tricked by one tribe that plays by its own rules, and surprisingly befriended by another.

Historia
Several years have passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, first met, and Will is finally a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy - boring, even - until Lord Syron, master of a castle far in the north, is struck down by a mysterious illness. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is suddenly thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure, investigating fears of sorcery and trying to determine who is loyal to Lord Syron.

Great story horrible narrator
Revisado: 08-21-22
The story’s great, spoiler alert the dog takes all attention away from Tug. The next book is back to normal but the narrator is horrible. All the girls sound like stupid hags and will sounds 85. Many characters sound the same and if you pay attention the voices to some characters change multiple times this book is important to go on and is well written but it bothers me how the narrator says Araluehn (this is how I feel and I’m 12!!!)
