Now he can begin to meld all the previously warring people into one army, one nation. But the task Genghis has set himself, and them, is formidable. Wonderful, historical fiction
Revisado: 02-07-11
After listening to the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden, which I enjoyed enormously, I wasn't sure about listening to this book series. Thankfully at the recommendation of my brother I did.
Okay, it starts off a bit slow and sometimes you find yourself thinking who is he again? So many names, I got a little mixed up with the characters early on. Please don't let this put you off purchasing or listening, this book / series is absolutely brilliant. I found myself taking the long round to places I was going just so I could listen a bit longer!
Just incredible how Conn manages weave his stories around some facts and create a compelling story.

Plan Aurora, hatched in a remote dacha in the forest outside Moscow and initiated with relentless brilliance and skill, is a plan within a plan that, in its spine-chilling ingenuity, breaches the ultra-secret Fourth Protocol and turns the fears that shaped it into a living nightmare. A crack Soviet agent, placed under cover in a quiet English country town, begins to assemble a jigsaw of devastation.

Good story, too much detail in some areas
Revisado: 02-07-11
Good story, but with a very slow start which goes into far too much detail about the political system in the UK, the flow of the story was lost as a result. There were a couple of times I nearly stopped listening. That said I'm glad I did not and listed to the end, it was enjoyable.

Kane & Abel for a new generation!!
They had only one thing in common - William Lowell Kane and Abel Rosnovski, one the son of a Boston millionaire, the other a penniless Polish immigrant. Two men born on the same day on opposite sides of the world, their paths were destined to cross in the ruthless struggle to build a fortune.
The marvellous story, spanning 60 years, of two powerful men linked by an all-consuming hatred, brought together by fate to save - and finally destroy - each other.

Just fantastic
Revisado: 02-07-11
Totally engrossing, its got all the emotions told in a compelling story. You can’t help getting emotionally connected to the characters. At the same time you can hear yourself shouting at them.
As my review title states, it really is a fantastic listen. I can honestly state without hesitation, that this is one of my all time favourites.

Historia
The quintessential grumpy old man, Barry Cryer's standup combines the quick wit of Radio 4 with the charm and class of the 'Great Men of Comedy'. He has been a regular panelist on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue and Just a Minute, the latter of which he also chaired. In 1998, Barry wrote his autobiography, You Won't Believe This But…, which has been broadcast on Radio 4.

After finding I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue on R4 a few years back, I began to learn just how clever and funny Barry is, this audiobook doesn't fail to make me laugh every time I hear it.
