Twenty-year-old Ryiah is a black mage of combat, but she is not the Black Mage. Yet. She's had her eyes on the legendary robe for as long as she can remember, and in just one year she will have a chance at her country's prestigious - and only - tourney for mages. new narrator and I'm seriously disappointed
Revisado: 03-20-19
The story was wonderful but the narrator was awful. she changed the pronunciation of multiple names and you could hear the weird stretch of words when she turned pages. she also provided little voice acting to make the speakers distinct.

Historia
In this richly developed fantasy, Lei is a member of the Paper caste, the lowest and most persecuted class of people in Ikhara. She lives in a remote village with her father, where the decade-old trauma of watching her mother snatched by royal guards for an unknown fate still haunts her. Now, the guards are back, and this time, it's Lei they're after - the girl with the golden eyes whose rumored beauty has piqued the king's interest.

narrator detracts from gravity
Revisado: 01-15-19
while I really enjoyed the story, the narrator read everything in too careless of a tone and made even the most deadly of moments lack gravity. she read too much like she was reading a children's bedtime story... the plot was a little predictable though...

Focus shift is frustrating but rewarding!
Revisado: 08-19-18
I'll start off with this the book is just as amazing as the rest of the series and I really feel like Elizabeth Evans is a phenomenal reader. However, the focus jumps back and forth between multiple groups which can get really frustrating and a little annoying at times but by the end you'll be glad that the focus jumps, even if it pulls away from another character's action.
