Historia
Laurie Lee Hall’s growing-up years were defined by the conflict between her physical condition as a boy and her inherent identity as a girl. Unable to explain or resolve her gender dysphoria, she committed to living her adult life as a male. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, eventually becoming chief architect of its temples and an ecclesiastical leader. In her church and community, rigid adherence to gender roles is not only the norm, but the defining issue of a faith that doctrinally declares one’s gender as an “eternal identity.

A page turner I couldn't put down!
Revisado: 03-09-25
Laurie Lee Hall had me captivated through the whole recording of this memoir. Warning: Short Spoiler's ahead. (But I have no idea how or what to say without including, I don't think they'll ruin the story for you though)
It truly was a page turner I couldn't put down! I'd wanted this title since I first heard her do a few interviews. I was so excited to finally hear that it was now available in audio form, so I had to get it! i started listening while out on a run. She had me pulling for her throughout the stories she shared as a young boy growing up in a dysfunctional home, society and all. From their family separating from church's where things weren't right to school experiences where she was fighting not just the rights of one gender but for equality for all. To finding the LDS faith and actively working inside it to make everyone feel of worth and important. Having to hide who she truly was for decades. Laurie Lee Hall and a few others within the pages of this story truly encompass how I feel God would truly have us function within our every day lives by following God's promptings instead of Man's policies and procedures. Laurie Lee Hall truly has a way with words. I found this story one in which I could cry and cheer along with her from page one. She truly is an inspiration. While I don't know if I'll ever do it, but reading this once again made me want to tell my life story. I hope you keep writing and sharing your story! I'd love a follow up or more than one sequel to this book! I went out for a run and instead of putting it down immediately after I was done kept listening for hours after the fact. I'll probably even go back and listen again and again!

Ever wonder what kills children?
Revisado: 09-17-16
Would you listen to Apparition again? Why?
I would listen to it again. It is very well written. Quite intense though, a lot of the time I had to break after every 1-2 chapters just to clear my head.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I really enjoyed when Mr. Collings was writing in the kids perspective. But, he really nailed them all. I would've loved it had the teddy bear real-estate agent had more of a role. But, understand why he didn't.
Have you listened to any of John Bell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Didn't think I had. But, going back I saw that he did read Michaelbrent's The Loon. I liked that one. It's been too long to remember how they compare though. However, I am interested in listening to some of his other work now.
If you could rename Apparition, what would you call it?
Once mine always mine.
Any additional comments?
When listening make sure to stick around to the author's note. It explains where the author was coming from and helps you realize that he's not totally off his rocker.

Historia
A half-century-old curse lies over the small community of Ridgewater ever since Sarah Chase died in a car accident during a teen-angst-driven game of chicken back in 1962. She perished in the back seat of a 1961 Impala, accompanied by a group of boys who called themselves "the big four". She screamed as the car careened through a guardrail and plunged into the icy river water beneath. The four boys survived. Sarah did not.

Pretty good one!
Revisado: 07-29-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Heroes Wanted to be better than the print version?
I wouldn't know as I didn't read the print version.
What other book might you compare Heroes Wanted to and why?
It is in a league of it's own, or at least for me.
Which character – as performed by Linda Joy – was your favorite?
I preferred the bad customer or the hero in training in the 1st book. Reminds me of the irate customers that call me at my job.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The second story was pretty touching
Any additional comments?
This is a pretty good one. I listened to it via audible. I especially loved the 1st story as it was more my cup of tea with technology involved. But they were both very well written and translated.

Historia
Four years ago, crime beat reporter Riley O'Rourke changed the world. To be fair, it wasn't entirely her fault. Her mentor, a 3,000-year-old vampire, destroyed Tucson police headquarters during a fight with a sorcerer. Footage of the fight went viral on the internet, and the existence of Preternaturals -vampires, witches, and other were-animals like Riley - was revealed.

Cloned pop star & Aliens turned Rock Stars!
Revisado: 01-29-15
Would you listen to Bieber's Finger again? Why?
I Would totally listen to this book again. As it is predictable yet satisfying. This story is like 2 books combined into one. At first I was scarred that I wouldn't like it. Because I really don't get too much into Sci-Fi creatures. So The 1st time I had to stop listening. But I decided to give it another chance. I'm very glad that I did. WOW! He nailed it. He has such a way with war. His narration takes you out of your world and drops you smack dab into whatever setting the story is in. I hate to blow the plot or anything. But it's about a young Pop star being cloned and an alien group becoming a Rock and Roll band. A Great listen!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bieber's Finger?
I will always remember pretty much everything in this book. From the bombing, to the cloning, to EVERYTHING! Don't want to give it away!
What does Craig Nybo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings the characters to life!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The making of a clone and alien ice beetles into inter-galactic Rock and Roll legends!

Zombies, Veterans and Hippies O MY!
Revisado: 01-24-15
What made the experience of listening to Allied Zombies for Peace the most enjoyable?
Mr. Nybo does an EXCELLENT job in showing and not telling. The scenes really came to life. He is AWESOME at characterizing the different voices! Loved listening to it so much that when I couldn't listen I had to get a kindle copy so the fun could keep going until sleep came my way!
What other book might you compare Allied Zombies for Peace to and why?
Can't say that I'd ever read something too comparable. But if forced to choose: I'd probably have to say D.J. Butler's Rock Band Fights Evil series!
What about Craig Nybo’s performance did you like?
He really gets into each part WELL!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
FOR SURE!
Any additional comments?
