Good Story
Revisado: 02-21-25
I wanted more from the story, it just felt like the story was thin. it was kind of a journey to self book, but I felt like she never really got there.
Also, I liked the narrator but I think it needed more mixing and post production work. I could hear every breath she took and I could also hear pages turning.

Enjoyable Read
Revisado: 01-08-22
I enjoyed this book. There is a lot of dialog and moments that I wanted the pace to increase. But overall an enjoyable read. I will probably continue with this series.
My only real issue is the audio. I had to strain to hear parts narrated by Zeller. I spent a lot of time playing back to pick up what I missed. This isn't usually an issue for me because I read the physical book with the audio however, this time I didn't have a physical copy.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

The racists language did not add to the story.
Revisado: 12-27-21
The racist language did not add to the story. It read as if the author couldn't wait to put the n-word in print. The constant comparison to the blue people to the struggle of black people was ridiculous. It's sad that the author spent so much energy with this comparison. The blue people as a subject matter would have been so much more interesting without it.

From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

Historia
In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet's word is law, Immanuelle Moore's very existence is blasphemy. Her mother's union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches.

Historia
Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her - her identity, her spirit, her will to live - pay. Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: Every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at 17 years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.
Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life.
