Historia
No running water, no car, no electricity or any of the things it powers: the internet, phone, washing machine, radio, or light bulb. Just a wooden cabin, on a smallholding, by the edge of a stand of spruce. The Way Home is a modern-day Walden - an honest and lyrical account of a remarkable life lived in nature without modern technology. Mark Boyle, author of The Moneyless Man, explores the hard-won joys of building a home with his bare hands, learning to make fire, collecting water from the stream, foraging, and fishing.

Getting back to our animal selves
Revisado: 09-25-21
Great book about how giving up technology can help us to rediscover our animal selves. Fantastic narration. Full of detail on how to be relatively self sufficient in the west of Ireland. Philosophical too.Loved it.

Signals is the story of the world economy, told in the language of everyday objects, places and events - from magazine covers and supermarkets to public protests. Pippa Malmgren argues that by being alert to the many signals around us, we can be empowered to deal with the varied troubles and treasures the world economy inevitably brings. Economics is not just maths and data. Perfume and makeup are part of the world economy, too.

Historia
Lucidly and beautifully written, Peace Is Every Step contains commentaries, meditations, personal anecdotes, and stories from Nhat Hanh's experiences as a peace activist, teacher, and community leader. It begins where the listener already is - in the kitchen, office, driving a car, walking - and shows how deep meditative presence is available now.

Historia
Old Path White Clouds presents the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha. Drawn directly from 24 Pali, Sanskrit, and Chinese sources, and retold by Thich Nhat Hanh in his inimitably beautiful style, this book traces the Buddha's life slowly and gently over the course of 80 years, partly through the eyes of Svasti, the buffalo boy, and partly through the eyes of the Buddha himself. Old Path White Clouds is destined to become a classic of religious literature.

wonderfully told story of the Buddha's life
Revisado: 08-27-17
Thich Naht Hahn nails the telling of the story of the Buddha's life is this epic biography. It is filled with characters and places and the pace is excellent. What could be terribly dry is presented in a way the soothes, educates and informs. The narrator of the audio book is perfect. I can't recommend this audio book highly enough to students of Buddhism.

loved the way this book explores the difference between book learning and hands on experience, first contrasting literature with life, then medical studies with medical practice and finally thoughts about dying with dying itself. a unique person striving to make a meaningful contribution during life. the writing is excellent.

precious practical buddhist advice
Revisado: 10-15-16
I loved this audio book as it gives practical guidance to realising enlightenment. It builds upon the Dalai Lama's book 'Becoming Enlightened' and is clearly, if at times monotonously, narrated. To be fair the narration was only at times monotonous by comparison to the previous audibook by the Dalai Lama that I listened to which was excellently narrated by Martin Sheen. I highly recommended this audiobook for deepening one's Buddhist practice; it is not for the beginner.

Historia
The Dalai Lama, at his most compassionate and outspoken, here elaborates and deepens his vision for the nonreligious way. Transcending the mere "religion wars", he outlines a system of secular ethics that gives tolerant respect to religion, those that ground ethics in a belief in God and an afterlife, and those that understand good actions as leading to better states of existence in future lives. And yet, with the highest level of spiritual and intellectual authority, the Dalai Lama makes a claim for what he calls a third way.

When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.
