Lenna is Strength, a manifestation of the tarot card, and powerful beyond reckoning. But when she's pulled into the human realm and tasked with protecting a young boy, everything is thrown into chaos. Lenna's not supposed to be here, interacting with mortals. She's definitely not supposed to be drawn to the sexy mercenary sent to retrieve her by any means necessary.

How could the performance have been better?
Both the writing and the performance left me cold, I didn't care about the people in the story,

Historia
It's 2065. Those born with magic abilities live in government-run zones, without rights or freedoms. Fear of magic created this segregated world and fear keeps it intact. A high-profile murder brings Detective Nathan Perez to Magic Born Zone 13. He's had little experience with the Magic Born and isn't sure what to expect during his first encounter with a witch, but he never thought he'd be so drawn to her. Trancehacker Calla Vesper uses magic to break into computers and aid the Magic Born underground. She has no interest in helping a cop, even if he is smoking-hot, but money's tight and Nate offers a tidy amount for help navigating the Zone.

Outstanding
Revisado: 11-06-13
What made the experience of listening to Trancehack the most enjoyable?
The sci-fi, romance and characters are all believable. I would like see this book continued into a series.
What did you like best about this story?
Neither the romance or the sci-fi overwhelmed the characterizations. The people behaved in the context of the society. I want to know what happens to the politics. Apartheid is inherent unstable. In the midst of the politics, people did their best to be happy.
What does Emma Taylor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think she makes Calla, Nate and the club owner come to life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Happiness in the face of injustice.
Any additional comments?
The description didn't do the story justice. I almost didn't listen to it. I'm glad I did.

Very powerful, very disturbing
Revisado: 02-26-12
What did you love best about Doomsday Book?
It was about world changing events in terms of the humans involved. It wasn't a history book. It was a human story in historic times.
What other book might you compare Doomsday Book to and why?
I would compare it to Catching Fire. It also was about ordinary people doing their best in horrible times.
What about Jenny Sterlin’s performance did you like?
She had the good sense to let the power of the story shine.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
People survive even Doomsday.

Lots of fun
Revisado: 02-26-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Seen as a fairy tale, it was fun and enjoyable. It was a bit light on the character development.
If you’ve listened to books by Eloisa James before, how does this one compare?
It was lighter and less realistic.
What does Susan Duerden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She did a good job.
Do you think A Kiss at Midnight needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
The story itself couldn't be continued, but another fairy tale set in regency England might be fun.

Historia
Dear Listener, Island Flame is a classic tale of romance on the high seas, featuring two extraordinary characters: the headstrong Lady Catherine Aldley and the legendary pirate Jonathan Hale. No book is more special to me. I was thrilled when it was published, and now, more than thirty years later, I am just as excited to share it again with you. I don’t have to tell you that their tumultuous escapade sizzles with passion (lots of passion!), but what I hope you will take away most from Cathy and Jonathan is that dreams do come true - in love and in life. Mine did, and I hope yours will too.

Karen's Worst Book
Revisado: 02-26-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I love Karen Robards' books. But this one and it's sequel are horrible. The characters are not true to life. They are so exaggerated and one dimensional. It was too painful to listen to the entire book.
Has Island Flame turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I've read enough of Karen Robards books to ignore these two.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Justine Eyre?
The writing was so bad that no narrator could have improved it.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Island Flame?
The whole book

The Audible version of this is messed up so much that the plot is impossible to follow. I checked out this audiobook from the library and I liked it. The story was not all jumbled up. Audible needs to do some work on their version.
