Historia
In AD 1119, a group of nine crusaders became known as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon - a militant monastic order charged with protecting pilgrims and caravans traveling on the roads to and from the Holy Land. In time, the Knights Templar would grow in power and, ultimately, be laid low. But a small offshoot of the Templars endure and have returned to the order's original mission: to defend the roads of the world and guard those who travel on them.

SO. MUCH. FUN.
Revisado: 09-08-20
Sons of Anarchy mixed with True Blood with a bit of Convoy thrown in. An absolute blast to listen to! Bronson Pinchot’s narration is a treat to listen to, as always! I thoroughly enjoyed this ride! Can’t wait for the next book!

Perfection.
Revisado: 01-09-20
I just finished this audiobook and am writing this review through tears. The author’s quiet joy, love and deep respect for the characters made the story beautiful, funny and tragic in just the right measure, like a perfect recipe. And Judith Ivey’s narration was a wonder- possibly the best narration I’ve ever heard. This book will stay with me a long time. Do yourself a favor and listen to it now.

Loved it! Can't wait for the next in the series!
Revisado: 03-14-19
In her role as a covert trade ship representative (read: spy), young Marta is set down on a planet settled by refugees from a destroyed earth. In the centuries since the planet Adalta was colonized, the people - who shun technology - have developed "Talent" - elemental powers that they draw from the planet itself. Marta is on the planet to research ways to open it up to trade with the roving ship she grew up on, but she is quickly drawn into the growing political unrest on Adalta...unrest she suspects is being supported by the greedy leader of her trade ship, who may be supplying weapons that could devastate Adalta. As a Mi'Hiru, a member of the all-female elite guard who patrol the skies on Karda -giant creatures with the body of a horse and the head and wings of a bird - Marta finds herself becoming inextricably bound to this new planet and its people, especially the handsome son of a powerful nobleman. This is a fun and exciting fantasy/sci-fi story with just enough romance thrown in! The characters are well-developed and the world feels very real. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to the next in the series.

Historia
In his wickedly brilliant first novel, Debut Dagger Award winner Alan Bradley introduces one of the most singular and engaging heroines in recent fiction: Eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. It is the summer of 1950 - and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia’s family calls home. A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath.

Hooray for Flavia DeLuce!
Revisado: 11-12-11
Flavia Sabine DeLuce is a hilarious and endearing chemist. I know, this is not how one usually describes chemists, but Flavia is a delight! Her family, their home and the town of Bishop's Lacey play wonderful, quintessentially British supporting roles to Flavia's Agatha Christie-worthy sleuthing. Don't miss this one, you'll regret it.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Amazing....just amazing
Revisado: 10-15-11
This book is pure inspiration and amazement. Every time I thought that it couldn't get worse for Louie, it did. And every time it did, he rose above and triumphed again and again. It was a beautiful listen. The narrator did an excellent job, reading with emotion, but never over acting. It was one of the best stories I've ever heard.
