A little mystery with romance thrown in
Revisado: 04-23-25
There are great parts to the story and some good twists. However, constructive criticism here: the author should portray a female law enforcement officer as confident and knowledgeable, especially as the top law enforcement officer, a sheriff. Some of my negative impressions might have stemmed from the narrator's voice; I did not like the shaky, hesitant tone used for Eve. She is THE sheriff, and was in the NSA – clearly, she possesses knowledge and experience unless she was a complete moron (which is not part of the story). She should not sound indecisive, hesitant, or even silly. It's not that these traits don't exist in real life, but the portrayal should not align with them. Women in law enforcement won't appreciate it. Strong women won't appreciate it. She can be very critical and observant of people without falling for town gossip; she will learn for herself. Law enforcement officers are generally very observant and inquisitive. Additionally, true-life crime investigation procedures should be more accurately represented. I know there's creative writing in fiction, but after working for a PD for 30 years (as a civilian, not a sworn officer), even I can quote procedures and laws. Do the research for solid crime scene protocols, more realistic forensic / lab protocols, federal involvement, etc. Eve is the leader of all law enforcement in her county - show it. Again, this is constructive criticism. Hope it helps.

Crazy twists and turns
Revisado: 09-06-19
I don't like reviews that portray the story itself, so I won't do that. But let me tell you, this book is full of crazy twists and turns. As soon as you think you've figured it out, BAM, a new secret is revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. The narrator is amazing (some narrators ruin the book for me). She was outstanding.

Excellent narrator - I never had a bad narrator until my last audible, and now I realize how important they are.
This was a great book, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I can usually figure out "who done it" but this was a doozie! I hate reviews that give away the entire story line, so I'll just give you advice: This is a great book!
