Historia
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night...and into history. Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

FUN thriller and the narrator is GREAT!
Revisado: 02-22-23
Whilst all the snide lemmings in the echo chamber repeat themselves in reviews, I say give this narrator, Jefferson Mays, a chance and I think you'll enjoy this audio version of "Bloodless" as much as I did-and I enjoyed this mystery/thriller/sci-fi novel immensely! Jefferson Mays does a fine job narrating and differentiating voices. Pendergast's drawl is good and I even detected a hint of Rene Auberjonois. Mays' female voices are good as well and do not sound silly as the echo chamber of reviewers would have you believe. I almost didn't buy this book on account of all the negative reviews. In the end, because I like Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child so much, I gave it a whirl and I'm glad that I did. I really found nothing the matter with this story which does dip its toes into sci-fi OR with the narrator! I genuinely liked the book and the narrator!

Historia
There’s no one and nothing the great detective Nero Wolfe wouldn’t take on if the price was right. That’s something wealthy society widow Rachel Bruner is counting on when she writes him a check for a whopping hundred grand. But even Wolfe has a moment’s doubt when he finds out why the prize is so generous. For the oversize genius and his able assistant Archie Goodwin are about to lock horns with the FBI - and those highly trained G-men have a way with threats, tails, and bugs that could give even sedentary sleuth Nero Wolfe a run for his money.

One of my favorite Nero Wolfe mysteries!
Revisado: 01-18-23
Michael Prichard is an excellent narrator and is the perfect Archie + a mystery about a bullying corrupt FBI is - timely. (Seems absolute power corrupts absolutely and they’ve always been pretty rotten.) Wolfe gets the largest retainer of his life to teach J Edger and crew that they aren’t untouchable and it only gets better from there. Enjoy!

Unless you want to purchase a lecture-
Revisado: 01-12-23
While Audible does allow returns, and my Audible library stretches back two decades with about 1000 titles, Audible will not allow me to return this one-why? I have started this book numerous times only to be defeated by boredom and by the thought at 1/2-3/4 through that I haven't learned much or been entertained AND will need to purchase an Emily Fletcher lecture or series if I really want to learn how to "stress less and accomplish more". I am very disappointed in this book because it was recommended to me by a friend and did not meet expectations and because for whatever reason, Audible will not allow me to return this book using their 1 year policy, so I have wasted a credit and this stinker will remain in my library as about title 1,001.

When evil strikes a loved one, it can make us crazy. We can't think rationally enough to get revenge ourselves, so we shouldn't. But Nero Wolfe ignores reason when someone guns down a close friend in cold blood. He vows to collar the killer personally, and it thrusts him into the gravest danger of his career.

Super fun and unusual Nero Wolfe mystery!
Revisado: 09-25-22
Like “Death of a Dude” (another good one), this mystery finds Nero Wolfe, much of the time, out of his usual element, his comfortable brownstone with his orchids and gourmet chef Fritz mostly absent the story. It is even more fun than usual Wolfe mysteries seeing him a duck out of water, but not too far out of water as he returns to his rough and rowdy boyhood home of Montenegro with his every ready sidekick Archie Goodwin. I don’t want to spoil the mystery for you, but suffice it to say that Nero had to return to the Black Mountain for honor’s and friendship and family’s sake. Enjoy!

Historia
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.

Revisado: 04-19-21
We live and work in NM and listened to this on our first road trip since the wretched pandemic. What fun! Hubby unfamiliar with other books in the series while I am a fan of all, but hubby did fine listening to this one with me. What a suspenseful hoot and holler with a cameo near the very end by Special Agent Pendergast. If you are a lover of the great SW and history, you’ll especially love this one too.

Not my cup of tea & needed better reviews--
Revisado: 02-16-21
I actually read available reviews when looking for a mystery set in the Smoky Mts. but the most "helpful" Audible reviews left out the contrived, awkwardly written gay romance part. Since I stopped reading Harlequin romance books around age 17, I'm going to take a pass in decade five on gay romance with mystery thrown in. This isn't my cup of tea. I'm not going to finish the book and will ask for my credit back. If either of the two "helpful" reviews had mentioned this aspect, I could have saved myself several hours of wasted time.

Revisado: 11-19-20
Holly White, a Stephanie Plum-like heroine, minus Lula, kitty cats instead of a hamster and Bob the dog, with a whole lot of Christmas sweets, a despicable ex, and a couple of handsome love interests thrown in + (gasp) murder! Passably entertaining.
