These books are so bad, and Scott Brick is so awful, one would imagine the two would somehow cancel each other out, but, at the same time, they don't.
That is how I would describe this book if I were Brian and the other guy. Now read the first sentence, beginning in a breathy stage whisper, increasing the volume of your voice to a bellow with the cadence of a televangelist. Truly terrible. So awful, you are somehow compelled to listen in order to make sure the truly astounding badness is actually real. It is real, and it goes on and on and on...

Like a knife scraping a plate, listening to Scott Brick hurts one's teeth. That's the best thing I can say.

One of my very favorite authors. Top Sci Fi. The Polity Universe is a fascinating place where nothing would ever be performed like this. Whiney voice mispronouncing words. Okay, a Polity Term such as Ceramel can be interpreted, sure, but niche doesn't rhyme with pitch...and if this is the very first time the Reader has come across a word such as 'discomfit", perhaps he should sound it out at home before flubbing through it on a take.
