A grown man who has never seen his birth certificate???
Revisado: 08-26-23
This was one of the best stories in this series except for one thing. Michael is how old and has never seen his birth certificate??? The excuse that his mother always took care of sending it to schools, etc might have worked when he was a kid, but not as an adult. And there would have been all kinds of problems if there was a different name on his birth certificate than the name he actually used. And if they were trying to keep the identity of his father secret, why put it on his birth certificate??? This was a small thing but it made no sense and brought me out of the story. Otherwise it was a really good story and I liked it.

Historia
When retired FBI Agent Patrick Henderson calls in an 'X-Ray Sierra India' incident, the operator doesn't understand. He tells them to pass it up the chain till someone does. That person is FBI Special Agent Kimberley Reynolds. Leaving Quantico for snowbound Northern Wisconsin, she finds that a tornado has flattened half the town—and there's no sign of Henderson. Things soon go from weird to worse, as neighbors report unsettling sightings, key evidence goes missing, and the snow keeps rising—cutting off the town, with no way in or out . . .

Great story terrible narrator
Revisado: 07-28-23
This is a great story, and it was nice to get a glimpse of the magical world in America. The only problem was the narrator. She had a really hard time doing an American accent, and she cannot do male voices at all. The way she pronounced “parka” set my teeth on edge. I know it is hard to find narrators as good as Kobna Holbrook Smith. I wouldn’t have wanted him to narrate this story, because his voice is Peter’s voice, and I honestly don’t like the voice he uses for Reynolds either. When the story is written as a first person narrative by an American character, the narrator needs to do better with the accent than this one did. And the male voices were awful no matter what accent she used. I’ve heard many female narrators who do a great job at male voices, but she made all the men sound like complete idiots with a head cold.

Historia
London. A newspaper editor is horrifically murdered, his death quickly followed by a series of more brutal and often bizarre slayings. The police are baffled, the only clear link between the murders being a single blood-red rose left at the scene of every killing. Why? What does the rose mean? What connects the killer to each bloody corpse? Scotland Yard detective Alan Winters leads a hunt for the elusive prey.

Good story, horrible characters
Revisado: 02-26-22
This was a good mystery story that was ruined by horrible character development. All the protagonists were so irritating that I started hoping the killer would get them. I know good characters are supposed to be flawed, but these were so flawed that there was nothing likable about them. Also, some events were just not believable. A detective who is a good friend of a victim and another who begins sleeping with the victim’s daughter would never be allowed to investigate the case in real life. The basic mystery was good enough that I wanted to find out what happened, but the bickering and arrogance of the main characters made me hate them all.

Good story annoying main character
Revisado: 08-20-20
This is the only series I keep listening to where I hate the main character. The stories are basically good and I like some of the supporting characters but Bliss is incredibly annoying with his long introspective guilt ridden solo scenes. The author might do better to send Bliss on vacation and write about Penny, who is just as smart but far less annoying

Good story, annoying main character
Revisado: 08-15-20
Basically a good story but the main character drives me crazy. The stories would be much better without the long introspective narratives where the author describes Bliss’s inner tormented thoughts over and over and over...
I like the scenes with all the cops working together and bantering and figuring out the mysteries. I’d like to see more of that and less of Bliss’s depressing inner thoughts

But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

Good story but too long
Revisado: 06-17-19
This is a good enough story that I wanted to keep going and find out what happened but it could have been improved a lot if about half of it was cut out. The author describes everything that happens in agonizing repetitive detail. Several times I wanted to yell at the recording, “Get to the point!”
