Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would absolutely recommend this book to friends.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Like real life, not every outcome of every event is perfect which makes this story more real and more suspenseful.
Which character – as performed by Jonathan Davis – was your favorite?
The narrator did great with all the characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The rescue and lack of communication between the rescuer and the rescued at the start is the hook that made me interested.

Historia
Thomas De Quincey, infamous for his memoir "Confessions of an English Opium-Eater", is the major suspect in a series of ferocious mass murders identical to ones that terrorized London 43 years earlier. The blueprint for the killings seems to be De Quincey's essay "On Murder Considered as One of the Fine Arts". Desperate to clear his name but crippled by opium addiction, De Quincey is aided by his devoted daughter, Emily, and a pair of determined Scotland Yard detectives.

Dark, foggy days indeed.

Where does Murder as a Fine Art rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As an insomniac I started listening to audiobooks as an alternative to simply staring at a dark ceiling. This book should be near the bottom of my favorites for keeping me up even longer.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot was great but it was the events that really happened (some pretty shocking) and the author's and narrator's ability to make you feel as if you're in the dark waiting for a knife in the back that kept my attention.
Which character – as performed by Matthew Wolf – was your favorite?
Mr. Wolf did a fantastic job with all the characters even though a man doing a woman's voice doesn't work too well but there was instance when he did a female voice that sent shivers up my spine. NO SPOILER! As much as I wanted to seek him out and choke him for that I understand that is what he is paid for.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Of course not. I wanted to go to sleep but this was a much more entertaining version of counting sheep. If anyone is looking for a nodder, this ain't it.
Any additional comments?
Anyone interested in history and likes a good mystery can appreciate this book.

The Emperor's New clothes without the Emperor.

What disappointed you about Inferno?
I don't know if the King is in the altogether as naked as the day that he was born. Instead his most finely tailored suit went out for a walk without him. I think it was the janitor wearing it. I love history and I love Florence also but I thought I was buying a suspense novel. This was little more than a travel guide with a bit of history and no pictures. There was some kind of story in it I think but it wasn't much of one. I won't spoil the end for anyone but the idea of what the danger is fits in well with recent news. Unfortunately, it seemed that Mr. Brown had a deadline to meet or something because the the plot could have been much more realistic and with much more plausible twists. One great thing about this book (and all of his books) is that it makes my childlike curiosity run rampant. I am going to read a book I never had an interest in, Dante's Inferno (I've had the CDs on my bookshelf for a couple of years). I haven't read "Digital Fortress" yet either (also on my shelf) but I certainly will. Mr. Michael did a great job with what he was handed. Gotta see what else he did.

What made the experience of listening to The Fourth Protocol the most enjoyable?
This is an intelligent story about intelligence. A classic.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot moved along nicely with no fluff to fill the pages.
Have you listened to any of David Rintoul’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
David Rintoui has a great voice and uses it well. This is the first book I heard him read but it won't be the last.
