Historia
Even an earl needs his ride-or-dies, and Archibald Fielding-Burton, the Earl of Harcourt, counts himself lucky to have two. The annual trip that Archie takes with his BFFs Simon and Effie holds a sacred spot in their calendars. This year, Archie is especially eager to get away, until an urgent letter arrives from an old family friend, begging him to help prevent a ruinous scandal. Suddenly, the trip has become earls-plus-girls, as Archie's childhood pals, Clementine and Olive Morgan, are rescued en route to Gretna Green.

Boring. 3 Earls complain how their parents didn’t love them and the heroine is more in love with being a vegetarian than she’s interested in the Earl. Not a romantic comedy, not Regency romance. Not worth your time or credit. Tried to return this but Audible wouldn’t return because I paid by debit. Ridiculous to be stuck with this book.

Historia
Miss Emma Harlow hasn't earned the reputation as a hoyden for nothing, so when the duke of Trent discovers her in his conservatory stealing one of his orchids, he isn't surprised - charmed, delighted and puzzled, yes, but not surprised. It is Emma who is amazed. But her vexation doesn't last long. For Emma is a practical young lady with a mission: to end her dear sister Lavinia's engagement to the villainous (and dreadfully dull!) Sir Waldo Windbourne, and she thinks that the famous libertine is just the man for the job.

The fun listen you were looking for
Revisado: 05-24-24
If you enjoy the Regency Romance genre but not the bodice rippers, you enjoy Jane Austen for the wit, romantic comedy, sisterly bonds, and the love story, but you just want something fun, easy to listen to but engaging, this is it. Characters are engaging & enjoyable. Not quite as Ton following. I needed something lighthearted but not stupid in my comfort genre. Couldn’t recommend it more for uplifting your spirits. And it was included in Audible Plus!

Pansy Post Apocalypse
Revisado: 10-07-22
I’m well read in the post apocalyptic genre. I have read all the books that this book has been compared to, Last Tribe, The Stand, The Passage ect. This book is no where near that caliber. The characters in this book wouldn’t make it out of the first 5 chapters in most books. A big group of ideologues survive because of a man and a teenage boy that have some balls. Don’t waste your credit.

I really enjoyed the first half of this novel but the second half was a slog to get through. It might have just been me though. I stuck with it but in the end I wouldn’t have missed anything quitting in the middle.

Atmospheric
Revisado: 04-30-22
Such a great book. The narration was awesome. It has a noir detective atmospheric feeling but with such a sweet love story. The sweetness of the love story with the 1930’s noir atmosphere made this a unique experience for me. I knew right away I was going to love it. Amy Harmon is such a versatile writer that you never know what to expect other than it’ll be great.

Revisado: 12-11-21
I loved this book. A great imaginative adventure. The booktrack enhances the experience. It is subtle and not annoying or distracting. I’m moving on to the rest of the series. My only regret is that the rest of the books do not have booktrack. Highly recommend! This was a fun listen.

Historia
Together, Justinian and Theodora reach for greatness, albeit in different areas: Justinian aims to simplify thousands of old Roman laws into one codex, as well as reconquer Rome and other lands lost to barbarians. Theodora longs to close the chasm between two religious beliefs, establish significant rights for women, and ensure that the Justinian-Theodora bloodline continues.

Loved
Revisado: 10-13-21
I loved this second book in the Empress Theodora duology. Simply great. I love books about Emperor Justinian and Empress Theodora. This is very well done historical fiction and I’m happy to see the “secret history” has been rebuffed as the false account that it was. Highly recommend!

I love Theodora
Revisado: 10-13-21
I’ve always had a fascination of Empress Theodora. I’ve listened to other historical fiction novels about her. This duology is amazing. It took a little bit to get used to the male narration of her voice but the story was so engrossing. I highly recommend this book and the second. I will leave a review for it as well. I first came across this author in the audiobook Push Not the River. He’s a great author. I highly recommend this 2 book series on Theodora.

Historia
When the glamorous Elizabeth Chudleigh, Duchess of Kingston, Countess of Bristol, went on trial at Westminster Hall for bigamy in April 1776, the story drew more attention in society than the American War of Independence. A clandestine, candlelit wedding to the young heir to an earldom, a second marriage to a Duke, a lust for diamonds and an electrifying appearance at a masquerade ball in a diaphanous dress: no wonder the trial was a sensation.

Ugh Bad Narration
Revisado: 10-07-21
I think this would be an interesting book but the narrator is awful, so awful. There’s another version of this book on Audible with a different cover but unfortunately the same narrator. I tried but I will be returning. Listen to the sample. She’s loud and overly dramatic, every word… dramatic. This would be a great book with the right narrator. You may be able to tolerate the narration but I gave it a good 3 hours to see if I could adjust to it and I couldn’t.
