Historia
Zoe is a wife and a mother. Or so she’s been told. Ask her for more than that and she couldn’t tell you. The blow to her head wiped her memory clean. Zoe knows the blood on her shirt isn’t just her own. After she was found stumbling out of the woods, the police ran tests. They say it belongs to her missing daughter. Zoe is trying to piece together what her daughter’s face looks like, but all she can conjure up is a white-hot panic. A fear that her child is in desperate need of her help.

Story was gripping
Revisado: 01-23-24
I really loved the plot, very twisty but not too unbelievable. Not sure I like the voice and/or cadence for Jo. Seems too drawn out almost lazy. Could just be me.

Performance was very good. Narrative too wordy at times.
Revisado: 01-14-23
The plot was cool. Lots of twists and turns. Sometimes I think Patterson’s newer stories are too wordy regarding every description and feeling. Maybe it’s just listening on “tape”. Could be that it wouldn’t bother me if I was reading it myself. But it comes across a little elementary at times. But I will still buy his books. They are still very entertaining.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Excellent story, narrator…conclusion
Revisado: 12-23-21
This was a terrific story. Definitely a tear-jerker. A bit slow and depressing in the idle but I suppose that was the probably the point. It was worth the investment of time. I thought the narrator was wonderful and did a great job with the whole range of characters. Jude got a bit annoying in her grief and anger and aloofness but I thought the author did a great job of waiting through the mother/daughter relationship she had with her mom and using it as a mirror for her to see the cycle she was reliving. It also helped humanize her mom. Thanks.

I liked the story line. Both the crime plot and the interpersonal one. Look forward to another story involving the Army CID unit.
