What a masterful performance of a wonderfully captivating novel! I prefer to listen to fiction as opposed to reading whenever I can, & I highly recommend listening to "When Darkness Ruled." Marti Dumas did an incredible job bringing the story to life & was a pleasure to listen to for the duration.

In general, I find the audio-book experience engages my senses & conveys the story in an emotionally-deeper manner than reading, which is why I prefer to listen to fiction. It places my awareness more in the now, for there is no conscious or subconscious foreknowledge or peeking at what is to come.

"When Darkness Ruled" is the most mysterious thriller I have ever listened to, for I mostly listen to classics old enough that their overall story is familiar. Since "When Darkness Ruled" has so many surprising plot-twists, I feel my listening to the audio-book made an engaging novel written by the supremely-talented J. T. McMahon even more thrilling.

(Marti Dumas sounds infinitely more pleasant reading this aloud than I do sub-vocalizing in my head as well!)

This novel itself is truly in a class of its own. Regardless of what genre you prefer, "When Darkness Ruled" is highly worth your read or listen. J. T. McMahon created a masterpiece, hopefully his first of many.

I am reasonably well-read in the more incredible components J. T. McMahon utilizes in his book, but I am thoroughly impressed by his weaving of elements of recorded occurrences in church documents, stories from the Bible, & other research findings in order to create a work of art that is not entirely fanciful. Mr. McMahon presented possible explanations within his novel for familiar Biblical accounts that I had neither encountered nor remotely considered in the past.

"When Darkness Ruled" goes far beyond its classification of "horror" or "occult." It is a novel that made me ask myself some deep philosophical questions throughout my listening.

J. T. McMahon created a rare work that is both superb in its overall macro arc as well highly-enjoyable to listen to throughout. It draws you in from the start, keeps you on-the-edge-of-your-seat the entire journey, & has an ending I certainly never heard coming!

Bravissimo!!!
