I have enjoyed reading this author's works in the past and was looking forward to this book. The narration of the story was so monotone at times and melodramatic at others that it was impossible to enjoy this book. I lost all interest in the plot and by the end did not care one way or the other about the outcome and fate of the characters.

What would have made The Racketeer better?
The story was so contrived that I lost interest in the characters. I found myself not caring at all about their actions.

Yes, I generally enjoy Grisham novels.

None of them. The performance was good, but the story was tedious.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Racketeer?
An abridged version might be more tolerable. The scenes shift so often that it is truly unbelievable.
