Worst of her books ever
Revisado: 03-14-23
Ihave read/listened to all of her books. This was the first one with a half-developed story. It is like she got tired of writing it and ended. A great clue which was developed, was left to be an aside—yes it proved that the murderer wAs a murderer, but we already knew that.
And the other storyline was given a one paragraph ending before launching a new mystery.
I am done with BR Spangler.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Good story. Slow start
Revisado: 01-12-23
I think Michael Beck is a near perfect narrator for Grisham’s southern based stories and a lot of my rating is due to him. It really isn’t a courtroom drama. It is more of a family tale where the father is a lawyer. But it is enjoyable.

Love these characters
Revisado: 12-17-22
I loved the first Murder Club book and this one is equally well-told. But really
It is the characters —so well developed and delightful—who make this book a joy.
Maybe you need to be of a certain age to appreciate how thoughtfully they are shaped.

Terrible
Revisado: 05-11-22
I can’t believe I spent time reading this book. Looked forward to suspense—none really. Character development was shoddy at best.

A hit in all aspects
Revisado: 02-04-22
The very fine writing was beautifully rendered by a great reading.
This is a mystery, but also the story of a small town and one of the families at its center.
The last 2 lines put a lump in my throat—so perfectly foreshadowed but still a surprise.
Look forward to reading more by this author.

Historia
When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

Tedious beyond belief
Revisado: 04-20-21
The only suspense was how could the narrator/protagonist be so boring and linear. Given the lack of complexity of the character, her incessant narration kept my nerves on edge. The actual narrator did as good a job as possible.

Historia
The daughter of a US Senator is monitoring her social media presence when she finds a picture of herself on a strange blog. And there are other pictures...of the children of other influential Washington politicians, walking or standing outside their schools, each identified by name. Surrounding the photos are texts of vicious political rants from a motley variety of radical groups. It's obviously alarming - is there an unstable extremist tracking the loved ones of powerful politicians with deadly intent? But when the FBI is called in, there isn't much the feds can do.

This is the first time I have been bored by a story from the Lucas Davenport series. I read all of it thinking it would get better. The premise itself fell kind of flat. And character development Followed suit. Very disappointing.
