They need better screening/training for narrators
Revisado: 07-10-19
I get mispronouncing like one word or something, but holy sh** the male narrator said nearly EVERYTHING wrong when it came to names of streets/etc. A little research could’ve shown him the correct pronunciations to help keep the story more legit and make it realistic. Being from Louisiana myself, it irks me that people don’t try saying the names correctly. There’s a magical thing called “Google” that can easily be accessed if you need to find out how to say something.

Great story with a mix of romance and zombie suspense. But... I hate how it’s broken into so many books, and only 2 of the five in the series are part of the romance package. Wtf is up with that? This really irritates me...

My resignation letter was rejected by my boss with his sexy, trademark smirk and an "I highly suggest you read the fine print of your contract...." So, I did. And now I've realized that unless I fake my death, poison him, or find a way to renegotiate my impossible contract, I'm stuck working under one of the cockiest and most ruthless bosses in New York. Then again, I thought that was the case until he called me late last night with an emergency proposition....

Stop Casting Erin Mallon!
Revisado: 05-13-19
She’s a horrible narrator! Her voice is deeper, gritty, and she does this annoying overly long and dramatic roll of her “Rs” and the end of every single sentence and word. Stop doing it! She sucks! Can’t even listen to the books without getting p*ssed off because she is so bad. She needs a new job that doesn’t include speaking... at all.

***Partial Spoilers***
I’m glad I don’t always completely base my listening on the reviews, because some of them hated the ending. Now, without the last chapter portion, I was leaning towards agreeing with them on it being stupid. I was about to be really annoyed that I wasted so many hours on a quick and seemingly thrown together ending, but it ended well with the last part. I think it was a little drawn out in some parts and kind of ridiculous with the pregnancy conception thing with Lowen and Jeremy and how she lifted her hips in the old fashioned way to help conceive. Oh, and the fact that she wasn’t on birth control and he just happened to not have a condom. Just stupid in my opinion, but whatever. It wasn’t a deal breaker I suppose.
All in all, it was a good story, and I’m glad it wasn’t like most romance novels with constant sex and was more of a suspense drama type novel. I like books like this rather than the raunchy ones.

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again. After 15 years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another. I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side. All I wanted was for him to come back to me. Then, Jackson Emery appeared. He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart. We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love.

Revisado: 04-05-19
I loved this book. The narrators, the storyline, the length... everything was great and kept my interested. I love that the author also adds in there, the love for animals. ♥️ this is one of my favorite audible books, and I’ve listened to A LOT. Definitely worth the listen and I will check out what other books this author has available.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Worth the listen
Revisado: 03-20-19
I like this sort of thriller, and I absolutely loved this book, and I found myself listening to it every chance I had. I really enjoyed this writer’s creativity and this book was really well written.
Now to address the graphic descriptions of gore/violence/rape/etc. I honestly didn’t expect to hear much of anything intense, since 9/10 books are pretty PG with their details. It is pretty graphic, but you have to be to emphasize details and make you understand what a sick and twisted individual the murderer/rapist is. With a book you only have words to describe the scene, and a good writer describes a lot of detail to where you can picture the scene in your mind. Also, I did not find that it was all that intensely graphic, I think the people giving horrible reviews and crying about being “scarred” are very dramatic and probably live in a bubble. I do, however, agree there should be a warning of some sort to show that this book includes “graphic descriptions of sex, violence, and murder; viewer discretion is advised.”
Another reviewer mentioned that to “come up with this stuff, the writer must have a twisted mind.” Seriously dude? It’s a STORY. Some people are creative in a “butterflies and rainbows” sort of way, and then there are some who are creative in a suspenseful and detailed sort of way. If you want “butterflies and rainbows,” then this book is NOT for you.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book and I will be looking into some of this author’s other books as well.

Long read, but for good reason
Revisado: 03-14-19
I had a hard time keeping up with all the names of people but over time as the book laid out who was who and details I was able to follow it more easily. The book is long and there are a lot of details, but I really liked this one. I read the one with Faith and Deacon and loved it, but this one was better in my opinion. I like them both a lot though. The narrators voice is kinda brusk, but she does really well at doing different voices for each character.
Well worth the read.

I could listen to this narrator for everything
Revisado: 02-05-19
Let's just start with the narrator. He is amazing! He does a clearly different voice for each character. He does the quirky sarcastic voices perfectly, and there probably couldn't have been a better person to narrate Joe.
As for the story, it was fine and dandy, but I found it quite boring like the first one. The whole book as well as the first one, was way too long for the events that happened in it. There could have been wayyyy more details about how the people were murdered and hidden in both books for the length of them.
My biggest peeve about this book is the ending. It ended "abruptly" with it either to go onto ANOTHER book or to just leave us hanging, Either way, is p***ed me off.
The book is basically the pesimistic rambling complaints from a narcisistic serial killer. Although he is funny in a lot of parts, it gets tiring. The auther tried too hard to make the book as long as possible for some reason. I prefer books in the 6-8 hour range, not 10+.
