Not all there...
Revisado: 03-31-24
I had high hopes for this book, we get to meet Anita's family and this wedding is almost done and we can move on . How wrong I was - another group therapy session, with Anita explaining everything and complaining about not being girly girl, and being the toughest person in the room. We get a glimpse of big bad of this book- but they don't even do anything and its the end, would not be so upset if it were labeled as Part 1- we don't even get that consideration.

Along with such favorites as the diaries of a Macy's elf and the annals of two very competitive families, are Sedaris's tales of tardy trick-or-treaters ("Us and Them"); the difficulties of explaining the Easter Bunny to the French ("Jesus Shaves"); and what to do when you've been locked out in a snowstorm ("Let It Snow").

Historia
Anita has never seen Damian, her vampire servant, in such a state. The rising sun doesn't usher in the peaceful death that he desperately needs. Instead, he's being bombarded with violent nightmares and blood sweats. And now, with Damian at his most vulnerable, Anita needs him the most. The vampire who created him, who subjected him to centuries of torture, might be losing control, allowing rogue vampires to run wild and break one of their kind's few strict taboos.

Its time for Anita to retire
Revisado: 11-11-17
There are 25 books in the series and I re-listened to most of them, except the short stories and a couple of the ones that are not available for download, before I listened to Crimson Death, I wanted to decide if I wanted to go on with the series. I loved Anita Blake she had a life, friends, a career, she was interesting, not so now. Maybe the series should be called Anita Blake and all her men and the time on her back. The long and short of this book, she has sex, Edward calls, tells her about the big bad, she has sex until the last 3rd of the book, has more sex , gets on a plane has more sex, get to her destination, talks to Edward, gets into arguments about vamps, has more sex, gets into more arguments, talks to some of the gentle folk and rowans(we are getting in to Meredith Gentry territory). has more sex, gets kidnaped, escapes, picks up some more cannon fodder, who are mad that they did not get any sex, and saves the day. All this to say the was the most tedious book I have ever listened to, I stopped and went to other books. I found my self groaning when I knew certain phrases were getting ready to be used, and when Anita or someone said they did not understand, or needed to have something explained to them. all this to say Good bye Anita, its time to end our friendship, I will miss you, but I think it is best, I wish you the best.

I had the abridged tapes and I am so glad that the first 3 books have been produced unabridged, hopefully the last book will be also

Any additional comments?
I had read almost all of Harold Robbins when I was a teenager, I would get them out of the trash after my mom finished. I was excited to see these books on Audible, but this one, was pure trash, I did not like any of the characters and I did not care what happened to them, I think Jeanette's mom died just to get out of the story. This story like some of the others, that Mr. Robbins had written, has no redeeming values

Historia
Anita Blake has the highest kill count of any vampire executioner in the country. She’s a US Marshal who can raise zombies with the best of them. But ever since she and master vampire Jean-Claude went public with their engagement, all she is to anyone and everyone is Jean-Claude’s fiancée. It’s wreaking havoc with her reputation as a hard ass - to some extent. Luckily, in professional circles, she’s still the go-to expert for zombie issues. And right now, the FBI is having one hell of a zombie issue.

Stick a fork in me, I am done!!
Revisado: 07-06-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who does not care about a story
Would you ever listen to anything by Laurell K. Hamilton again?
Nope, think I am done, this story has went nowhere very slowly
What does Kimberly Alexis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Kimberly Alexis is good at what she does, wish she had better material
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dead Ice?
If I could edit this book, I would cut out 85% of the relationship drama, I would have more of what was in the earlier books, I would give Ms. Hamilton a list of words she could only use 3 times in the whole story, and I would also tell he I have read at least 22 of her books, I don't need her to describe everybody every time she sees them. I would also tell her that Anita is not the biggest and the baddest in the land, I would have someone come and knock her down a few pegs.
Any additional comments?
I am tired of Anita and her platoon of lovers, these people don't have time to do anything, all they do is whine about how Anita does not have enough time for them, and all Anita has time for, is too talk about how rough and tough she is, and the best necromancer that has ever raised the dead, but never does anything to prove it, too much talk and not enough action.

What did you like best about this story?
Its easy to listen to, its trash, its lurid, its a Harold Robbins book
What three words best describe Vikas Adam’s performance?
He was not the best reader for this story.

Don't waste your credit, narrator is horrible.
Revisado: 03-04-15
What would have made Separation of Power better?
A better narrator, at times I did not know who was speaking in the story, and Mr. Kilban's voice was so shrill, I would have to stop listing.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ken Kliban?
Anybody but Ken Kilban, I know George Guidall is the gold standard but, I was wishing for Nick Sullivan. I kept waiting for Rapp to stomp his little feet and have a hissy fit.
Any additional comments?
Audible please redo this title with another narrator. The only reason that I listened to this title, is because I am working my way thru the series and did not want to skip one. Read all the other reviews before purchasing.

DON'T WASTE YOUR CREDIT
Revisado: 01-27-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better narrator would have made a much better story, Charlotte Hill is shrill, and at times I did not know who was speaking. If there was a story behind this book, I did not listen to it. Ms. Hamilton is starting to poach phrases from her other books and I feel that she has run out of things for these characters to say and do. I put up with the sex because Merry is from faerie, but these people don't ever go outside.
What was most disappointing about Laurell K. Hamilton’s story?
There was the constant rehashing of things that be talked about over and over again. How many times do we have to hear about how the men look, about Doyle's earrings, how long the men's' hair is and how they look its beginning to read like an Anita Blake story.
Would you be willing to try another one of Charlotte Hill’s performances?
Maybe if she reads Pride and Prejudice, or Weathering Heights .
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not a one
Any additional comments?
This was a terrible book, and I don't know if I will continue with Merry if there are any more books, it might be time to say goodbye.
