Historia
The next book in the perennially adored No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series sees Precious Ramotswe calling upon all her maternal instincts when she's faced with a two-ton case. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but can Mma. Ramotswe and the rest of the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency come together to raise a pipsqueak pachyderm? We may find out in this novel. We may not. Who can say?

Narrator so disappointing
Revisado: 12-16-20
I've been trying to get used to the new narrator. Usually, when I don't care so much for a narrator, I can get used to it after while. This narrator's voice is OK until she becomes a character. Her voice is high pitched and harsh, it is distracting. She seems to be making such a great effort to articulate the voices of the characters and slows down. Two of them sound barely different from each other, one a man, one a woman. I am so disappointed. I've read and listened to all of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency books. Please record the book again with Lisette Lecat.

Historia
In this timely and important audiobook, one of the most trusted and admired writers on the world of faith examines the meaning of Scripture. The sacred texts have been co-opted by fundamentalists, who insist that they must be taken literally, and by others who interpret Scripture to bolster their own prejudices. These texts are seen to prescribe ethical norms and codes of behavior that are divinely ordained: They are believed to contain eternal truths. But as Karen Armstrong shows, such a narrow, peculiar reading of Scripture is a relatively recent, modern phenomenon.

Good religious history; complete recording
Revisado: 02-03-20
I posted a previous review reporting an omission of a large section. I reloaded again this morning and so far the part of the recording that was omitted is complete. I like to have Armstrong read the book to me as I follow along with the text in the hardcover so I have purchased both the audiobook and the hard copy. That way I can underline and comment in the margins. I have read most of Armstrong's books and she shines again in this rendition both audibly and as written. Her voice is pleasing and I appreciate hearing her properly enunciate the names and words that I would not know how to pronounce.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Why did the book have to end????
Revisado: 04-22-09
A fantastic book, beautifully written to make me feel like the characters were part of my life. The readers/actors were brilliant and I am so glad I listened to this one because I would have never been able to hear their unique way of speaking in my head. I had to take a few days of silence after finishing the book to say goodbye. I more than highly recommend this audiobook.
