Historia
The man who became known as Esrahaddon is reported to have destroyed the world’s greatest empire—but there are those who believe he saved it. Few individuals are as divisive, but all agree on three facts: He was exiled to the wilderness, hunted by a goblin priestess, and sentenced to death by a god—all before the age of eight. How he managed to survive and why people continued to fear his name a thousand years later has always been a mystery...until now.

MJS delivers once again. Another excellent work. Things really get rolling after the start. By the end, as usual, you’re ready to jump into the next book whenever it comes our way.

A great, small, story. Fantastic narration of a relatable, young, protagonist who is full of angst and strong emotions. Reader does a great job with teenage characters.

Historia
Mattie and Brewster are normal, typical 16-year-old twins who live with their normal, boring parents: Martin and Gwen Banks. Normal and boring, that is, until the day their father's best friend shows up at their house - dressed in what appears to be a bathrobe. The next thing Mattie and Brewster know, their parents are frozen like human statues in their living room, the guy in the bathrobe has vanished, and they need to find answers - fast.

I was wrong.
Revisado: 02-28-22
I wrongly, and wrongfully, judged the first book in this series. I criticized Meyer for not doing things with the story that I loved so much about other books. It was a dumb way to judge a book, basing my thoughts on what it lacks compared to other beloved stories, instead of evaluating it for what it brings to the table. Now, years later, I’ve come back to the series with fresh ears, and I’ve loved all of it.
This is another fun and creative story in the Magic 2.0 world. The stories have become a comfortable escapist adventure for me to unplug with, and I’ll be watching for the next addition to the series.

Excellent ending to an excellent series.
Revisado: 05-24-20
Things finished in an entertaining and well thought out way. Sullivan weaves a tale that’s somehow simultaneously light, fun, deep, sad, and heartfelt. I think this guy might end up going somewhere.

Historia
How do you tell your part in the biggest tale in history? I ask because it's what I have to do. I'm Zoe Boutin Perry: A colonist stranded on a deadly pioneer world. Holy icon to a race of aliens. A player (and a pawn) in a interstellar chess match to save humanity, or to see it fall. Witness to history. Friend. Daughter. Human. Seventeen years old. Everyone on Earth knows the tale I am part of. But you don't know my tale: How I did what I did—how I did what I had to do—not just to stay alive but to keep you alive, too.

Skip this and go straight to the next book
Revisado: 03-21-20
If you’re blasting through the series like I am, feel free to skip this book. It’s exactly the same story as The Last Colony, but from Zoe’s point of view. While this may be an interesting idea, it adds almost no new information to the entire story except for maybe the last 2 hours. And even those don’t seem important. Having just binged through The Last Colony, I feel like I just listened to the same book twice, but the second time through a more annoying POV. The series is great, but this one can defensively be skipped without any downside at all.

Basically Star Trek fan fiction, but in a great way.
Revisado: 05-17-17
All of the classic Star Trek character archetypes are present, and the story isn't a far cry from what could be a short story arch of any one of the series. I don't want to spoil anything by being more specific than that. Now, you may read that statement and cringe a bit, but I will say, even with all of it being true, it's actually a very entertaining listen. Entertaining enough that I'm going to jump immediately into the next book of the series.

Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Fun, but not great.
Revisado: 03-02-15
This seemed, to me, a lazy continuance of the world created in the first book. I found the repetition of plot points in the quest to be annoying and did not add interested information.
I did enjoy the humor, and I do like the characters. It was a fine way to occupy 11 hours of commuting. I really wish the author would take this series in a more interesting, or maybe darker, direction. There's so much potential for things to get awesome, but it's mostly light hearted humor as it is now. This all sounds more harsh than I actually feel. It's a good listen and I'm not unhappy I bought it. All three books together are shorter than many others I have, so they make for fun, quick, distractions from life.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Bray delivers in his reading of this novel
Revisado: 01-22-14
What did you like best about this story?
I thought the journal style of the story would be annoying in audio form, but it was not. It was strangely absorbing.
I loved the engineering and science covered in the story. I have no idea if it is accurate or true, but it certainly sounds well researched. It made science seem very cool, but not in a obvious way.
I also loved the sense of humor in this story. The protagonist is witty and sarcastic. There is a large amount of gallows humor, so be expected from a character accidentally abandoned on an entire planet, alone, with a slim chance of making it home alive.
Any additional comments?
R. C. Bray is absolutely the perfect narrator for this book. He conveys the protagonists humor and sarcasm perfectly.
