Historia
On the eve of September 11, 2001, New York City's famous National Guard regiment, the fighting 69th Infantry, was not fit for duty. Most of its soldiers were immigrant kids with no prior military experience, and their equipment was derelict. The thought of deploying such a unit was laughable. Sean Flynn, himself a member of the 69th, memorably chronicles the transformation of this motley band of amateur soldiers into a battle-hardened troop at work in one of the most lethal quarters of Baghdad.

Accurate Guard transformation story!
Revisado: 07-18-19
This book accurately depicts the transformation of the Army National Guard from an under-funded Cold War place holder into relevant combat force. Hats off to the 69th and other Guard forces such as the 39th who had to transform under fire while being under funded and under equipped due to neglect by poor Senior Leadership at DOD and DA levels. The 69th and others embody the very essence of the fighting citizen Soldier. Great job telling the 69th and Guard story General Flynn
