Historia
Mackenzie "Mack" Dalton is a Milwaukee bar owner with a nose for trouble - literally. A neurological glitch has left her with extra-perceptive senses. So when she stumbles upon a dead body in the alley behind the bar - the same spot where her own father was shot eight months earlier - she can tell right away there's something fishy in the air. The lead detective thinks there's a link between the two deaths, and he'll need Mack's help to sniff out the murderer. But when all the evidence points to her as the most likely culprit, it could be an early last call for Mack.

The story line was interesting since I like a small amount of psychic or witching in stories.
Revisado: 12-30-24
Nothing much except sometimes her symptoms were a little technical. But overall I do like the author' humor in her stories.

Historia
Carrie Singleton is just about done with Clover Ridge, Connecticut until she is offered a job as the head of programs and events at the spooky local library, complete with its own librarian ghost. Her first major event is a program presented by a retired homicide detective, Al Buckley, who claims he knows who murdered Laura Foster, a much-loved part-time library aide who was bludgeoned to death 15 years earlier. As he invites members of the audience to share stories about Laura, he suddenly keels over and dies.

Now, without a book contract, she’s back at her family restaurant in a one-stoplight town...and she’s convinced things couldn’t possibly get worse. That feeling only lasts until her first shift, when on a trip to the storage building behind the restaurant, she literally trips over a body. Magic yet everyday life.
Revisado: 12-23-20
I don't read many books on magic but this one was mostly everyday life , a romance yearning, and some magic. It was an easy read that showed what life can be like in a small town. The only issue was with the way the romantic- want- to- be kept themselves from the romance. Somewhat typical but not too bad. All in all a feel good book.

Historia
While Robbie scrambles through breakfast orders for her expanding clientele at Pans 'N Pancakes, tempers run as high as the sticky August heat in South Lick, Indiana. Real estate developer Fiona Closs plans to build a towering luxury resort at one of the most scenic hilltops in Brown County, and not everyone can see the sunny side of the imposing proposition - including Robbie's furious Aunt Adele, who doesn't waste a minute concocting protests and road blockades. When a vocal protester is silenced forever at the resort site, Robbie ditches the griddle to catch the killer.

Quirky but entertaining.
Revisado: 01-10-20
I like this series by Maddie Day. They give a glimpse of a working woman who has things happen around her work but she doesn't go looking to solve problems as other cozy mysteries tend to do. This was cozy but somewhat believable.
I liked the way the story moved, and the main character, and those who compliment her in the story. This is entertaining and not overly bogged down by too many disconnected side stories.

Historia
When Celia Lovejoy’s parents announce that her grandmother is coming to live with them, Celia is delighted. Now while her parents work at their toy company, she can spend time with Grammy instead of going to bossy Paul’s house. When her grandmother tells stories about the fairies living in the woods behind Celia’s house, her parents are quick to dismiss it. "Just a lot of nonsense," says her father with a wave of his hand. Her mother reminds her that a 10-year-old girl is too old to believe in magic. But if there are no fairies, how to explain the glimmers of light she sees from her balcony at night?

Fairy tale
Revisado: 01-10-20
This is a cute fairy tale the centers on hope and determination. It can be read by children as well as an adult. It is about those who believe and those who try to make them disbelieve. But love and hope prevail. Just a nice story.

Very interesting series
Revisado: 12-17-19
I really like this series and have read all of them. The Characters are each interesting and the combination of a bakery with magic is an interesting combination to me. I enjoy the idea and the way that each character has a uniqueness. This is unusual for me since magic stories are not usually appealing to me.

Enjoyable story
Revisado: 01-09-16
What did you love best about The Glass Kitchen?
I liked the characters and the story line. It was a little long but overall enjoyable. It was an interesting concept about the food changing people and was a little quirky, but I liked that idea.
What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Easy to change voices. The narrator was very believable even when she did the male voices. A little difficult but made transitions from each character easy to distinguish.

Very imaginative
Revisado: 03-06-10
This book was very engaging with its imaginative story line. I felt like I was actually looking at this as a movie. The readers expressed the story so well. It was science fiction, with an emotional modern day drama. However, some of the scientific accounting was a little over done. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
