There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie....

The best book I’ve listened to this year
Revisado: 12-16-22
If you enjoy murder mystery books as I do, you will love this one. Although all the facts were not given until the end of the book, I found myself trying to solve the puzzle- I wasn’t successful. See if you can do better.

Revisado: 06-25-22
While the story is really sad, I was very impressed with the story over all and the characters are great.
I listen to all Michael j Sullivan books and this one is his best in my opinion.

An in-depth study of a serial killer
Revisado: 12-08-20
This book is an in-depth case study about a serial killer and how the justice system in the USA is so flawed. I was appalled by how this individual was able to travel around the country and kill indiscriminately without being stopped for many years.
Something needs to be done to protect citizens from these type of people.
I was moved by the dedication and hard work of the lead detective.

Historia
A Fire Upon the Deep is the big, breakout book that fulfills the promise of Vinge's career to date: a gripping tale of galactic war told on a cosmic scale. Thousands of years hence, many races inhabit a universe where a mind's potential is determined by its location in space, from superintelligent entities in the Transcend, to the limited minds of the Unthinking Depths, where only simple creatures and technology can function.

This has to be the worst book I've listened to so far.
It should be classified as a childs book, with talking dogs and potted plants and squeaky voices throughout.
It is supposed to be a space book, but it was just reallly annoying.
Horrible and way too long.

A murder mystery and court room drama
Revisado: 03-11-20
I really enjoyed this book, it was a murder mystery and court room drama with good character development and real life settings.
The author tries to show you how the US justice system works with all the quirks of the press and rules around how evidence is collected and presented in court.
It was a little cheesy in places, but overall I really enjoyed the book.
You won't be able to figure out the ending, there is not enough evidence presented to make that determination.

Historia
Convicted of deserting the German army, Sven Hassel is sent to a penal regiment on the Russian Front. He and his comrades are regarded as expendable, cannon fodder in the battle against the implacable Red Army. Outnumbered and outgunned, they fight their way across the frozen steppe.... This iconic anti-war novel is a testament to the atrocities suffered by the lone soldier in the fight for survival. Sven Hassel's unflinching narrative is based on his own experiences in the German Army.

A classic book about the 2nd world war and life.
Revisado: 12-08-18
I read all the Sven Hassell books back in the 1980's and loved them.
This book is a commentary about life during the 2nd world War and the social order at that time, (which is still relevant today).
The war was hell for the soldiers and it is interesting see how the 2 sides worked together to circumvent the leaders and survive the conflict.
When I look at authority figures today, I compare them to the officers in this book and shake my head.
Enjoy this book as I have, and learn a few life lessons.
