Historia
On Gotland Sidroc wakes from a disturbing dream; one of his sons, Hrald or Yrling–perhaps both–are in trouble. Both are in far-off Angle-land, and beyond his reach. Eskil the Svear sails to the island, offering Sidroc a rare opportunity to gain untold riches, with equal risk to life for those joining the venture. Edwin, Lord of Kilton, returns empty-handed from his search for a bride, while his brother Ceric knows true delight with his young wife Dwynwen, the Princess of Ceredigion.

The Saga Continues… at first this story was so different from the ones before that it didn’t quite feel connected to the others. Sometimes we are hasty to read thru to the familiar stories and characters we have seen in previous books. It took took a second read through to see; Yes they are indeed all connected.
I especially love the development of Yrlings character and that of Ealswith. I eagerly anticipate the next book.

Historia
It is the year 871, when England was Angle-Land. Of seven Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, five have fallen to the invading Vikings. No trait is more valued than loyalty, and no possession more precious than one's steel. Across this war-torn landscape travels 15-year-old Ceridwen, now thrust into the lives of the conquerors.

When I first came upon this book many years ago and I’m sure I’ve written a review before but I’m writing another one because this is I don’t know maybe the 10th time I’ve read this book. I read the entire saga starts to finish from the first book to the 10th, or whatever book we’re on now. Sometimes I like to start in the middle and work my way forward or backward I started. I finished the last one waterborne and I had to start over I needed to come full circle as it were and compare and contrast and it’s definitely worth it. If it’s your first time starting it, I wish you all the joy of reading it and then rereading it.

Revisado: 06-16-24
I’m an huge fan of the entire saga. And I really appreciate the continuation of the characters and all their developments.
I think there are many “dragons” in the story but maybe the greatest contrast is that of the two brothers Ceric and Edwin .
I await the next chapter in the series .
I love how the author really transports you to the time period. And how threads and characters that seem lost or forgotten pop back up .

Lovely classic Greek story
Revisado: 12-13-23
I love the storylines that continue the untold journeys of the forgotten. The author captures the emotional state of her characters and you feel what they are feeling truly. Took me a minute to get into the book but once you do you can’t stop listening/reading. The narrators also managed to convey a lot of emotion in their voices without making me hear every indrawn breathe.
Beautifully written and excellent narration on the audiobook version.

Beautiful and engaging
Revisado: 11-12-23
When we last left our characters I was so worried that this was going to be a tragic story ending in brother fighting brother over the welsh girl. Or it would play out like a Tristan and Isolde story.
Once again the author knows what she’s doing and weaves together seamlessly all the story lines and sets up others for the next.
For everyone absolutely freaking out over a young woman (who absolutely knows what she was doing sexually; plus she was raised by a woman who essentially was a courtesan in her earlier life) life expectancy in the 9th century was average perhaps 35-45 Childhood is over very quickly when you expected to marry at 12 bear a baby 9 months later. Often a young woman had very little choice in marriage/sex. Dynwwen must have magical powers of charm because of the ease at which everyone accepted her as Ceric’s bride.
Of course, we as a modern reader are uncomfortable with the term “child-wife”; I propose that’s it’s supposed to make us uneasy, she’s also so small in stature. Cerridwen was also barely 15 when she left the monastery and yet we all awaited the romance between her and Sidroc, whose age gap was probably equivalent to D and C
-Anyway I also enjoyed the sea battles even more this time rereading and I hope there’s a special person for Edwin and Ealhswith (though after his rejection I’m not sure Edwin deserves her!

Historia
When Princess Atalanta is born, a daughter rather than the son her parents hoped for, she is left on a mountainside to die. But even then, she is a survivor. Raised by a mother bear under the protective eye of the goddess Artemis, Atalanta grows up wild and free, with just one condition: if she marries, Artemis warns, it will be her undoing. Although she loves her beautiful forest home, Atalanta yearns for adventure. When Artemis offers her the chance to fight in her name alongside the Argonauts, the fiercest band of warriors the world has ever seen, Atalanta seizes it.

I wasn’t really familiar with the myth of Atalanta; I refrained from looking her up until towards the end. I loved the narration the most I think she has the perfect voice for her.

Historia
The year is 881. Ten years have passed since 15-year-old Ceridwen set out from her Priory home to make her own life. She has known love and loss, triumph and heartbreak. Yet the Circle which has moved about her is largely intact, although the counterpoint has changed, bringing with it the hope of renewed love. Ceridwen and Sidroc build their new lives together on the Baltic island of Gotland, where they are free and unknown. The bond between them, always strong even when years and wars separated them, deepens quickly.

Historia
In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box. But when the Eastwood sisters - James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna - join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement.

Quite the adventure
Revisado: 11-25-22
I found myself transported and not at all dissatisfied with the twists and turns of this novel. The author has a way of bringing to life this bygone era. If anything is a critic it is the overuse of the word “interlocutor”… but I suppose I may overlook that. Quite enjoyed the narration as well.
